This and the Royal Albert Hall sets are JB at his most electrifying best. I like the horns on this set best of the 4 sets of the tour, but the RAH delivers Just Got Paid and other great songs omitted on the others.

frank black was not grunge... and his albums with the pixies are better than his (arguably) best solo albums

Can't think of any, really - all my favourite artists who have released double albums have at least one single album I prefer over their 2-disc set(s).

Yes-yes songs. Pink Floyd-Ummagumma. Best is always problematic but these are pretty righteous albums in their own rights.

I couldn't come up with a better time marker - Teenager was released in the 'grunge' era. I think that album is stronger than both Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde; it just a shame few have heard it, I hope you have.

Another vote for Something/Anything? I find it to be Todd's most enjoyable album.

The judges have also decided to accept CTA as a correct answer. :p

Yes same here. I've thought through some double albums and I haven't found any that fit the thread. If you'd asked me sometime between 1982 and 1986 I could have said XTC - English Settlement.

I wasn't really thinking about live albums here. Yessongs pretty much serves as a "best of" from the peak of their career. . .

I love Physical Graffiti, but it was not recorded very well (imo). If it had sounded like the first album,
or Houses Of The Holy, there would be no question about it.

Using a focus on best, the one that stands out for me is Harrison's All Things Must Pass. I see a lot of other great albums listed, but not many I would call "best". I can see the Allman Brothers in there too with a couple of candidates.
