Right role, different rock star - one Derek Smalls did at first! (Yes, really!)

I used to believe that 'grunge' was somehow different from classic rock, or hard rock, and that 'alternative' was an actual music genre.

To me, grunge is different from "classic rock". The focus is on chords rather than riffs and solos.

I use to go along with that story also. I was a big Queen fan when I was a teenager (early 1980s). Anyhow - along comes the internet and I read about Barbara Valentin.

Not a very original title though. Maybe it started out as a variation of the more famous tune.

    Ha!

I used to be "pretty sure" John Cleese voiced the Schoolmaster on Pink Floyd's The Wall LP, yelling "how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat??".

And it was compounded during the song "The Trial"-- after the line "Call the schoolmaster", the voice that responds sounds identical to Basil Fawlty: "I always said he'd come to no good in the end, your honor."

My understanding is that "Jet" and "Martha My Dear" were both inspired by and named after McCartney family dogs. I guess that doesn't necessarily mean the songs are actually about them.

As a small kid when listening to the radio I thought all the music you'd hear was played live by the artists in the broadcasting studio there and then.

I will play that....this is how I heard The Airplane's "Saturday Afternoon/Won't You Try".....
    "Saturday afternoon
Yellow clouds rising in the noon
    Acid incense and balloons
    Saturday afternoon
    People dancing everywhere
    OWSLEY shouting I don't care"
I reckon the Airplane missed a trick:)
