This is a real challenging question....let's see?...

Torquay - Fireballs (1963 version) - great Norman Petty sound.

    Bob:)

There are TONs of obscure instros that most people have never heard. One of my hobbies is collecting them.

A really nice one is "Chariot" by Rhett Stoller in England.

Well, Diamond Head by the Ventures is beautiful. I don't think you can ask for any more from a surf record.

Inertia - The Hustlers - track 2, original version from Surf Legends (and rumors) GRZ-019

I love the guitar sound. It is watery. Liquid. :)

What amps are used? What settings?

The guitar amp was a Fender Super. The guitar? Don't know. The "special" echo was a contraption invented by engineer Bill Wenzel using plate echo and a special delay system similar to an Echoplex.

The Rising Surf - - Richie Allen (aka Richard Podolor) & The Pacific Surfers

Some of the best surf music (Richie Allen) that most people have never heard IMHO ... unless you were lucky enough to run across one of his LPs on Imperial ... since his material has been released only on a German boot CD.

On the immortal Candix label, early home of the nascent Beach Boys.

Sandals: "Theme From The Endless Summer." Every surf album should end with this one, just as it should begin with "Walk--Don't Run."

    Question for Surf Music experts:

Does "Out Of Limits" count as a Surf song?

Definitely...produced by the same fellow who brought us "No Matter What Shape" and other surf goodies...also add "Vanishing Point."

Sniff, sniff - no thread poopy - may I be so bold as to add Our Favorite Martian, by the always amazing Bobby Fuller and his orchestra??? I love how Mr. Fuller takes ahold of that Fender reverb throb and makes it all his own...

    This hour's choice:

    Lively Ones: Surf Rider

Mono or stereo, both have their positive aspects: mono for the kick, stereo for a great finish.

That MAKES that record!!!:D  . Unbelievable....

Next up, amazed I spaced it till now:

Rockin' Rebels: Wild Weekend. Originally released in 1960 on the regional Mar-Lee label as by the Rebels, reissued in late '62 by Swan to top ten success. Great sax work and axe; essential.

Steve ... John Blair, who probably qualifies as a "Surf Music expert", describes "Out Of Limits" (which was originally titled "The Outer Limits" until the TV show lawyers expressed their displeasure in a lawsuit) as "a non-surf instrumental" in the 3rd edition of his "The Illustrated Discography of Surf Music" ... he does include 14 other Markett sides in his surf discographphy.
