While it's nice to see a positive thread like this it's all highly subjective. I disagree with several of what the OP listed. :)

Does it have to be MFSL CD's only or may their SACD's also be listed?

I was requesting CD choices, not SACD's, since 'conventional' wisdom says SACD's are better. I had noticed that these CD's are the best masterings, even though they're an "inferior" format.

It will only be better if the mastering was done right. That us why I included Hybrid SACD's in my small list. Plus the redbooks will feature the same mastering.
I did add "SACD" to those in the list so feel free to ignore them :)

I think their versions of The Allman Brothers Band (1st album) & Idlewild South are the best digital versions of those two albums, by a pretty wide margin in the case of Idlewild.

I meant choosing among the MFSL cd-only masterings, which I listed several of my favorites in the OP. The SACD's are of course nice, but I wanted to mine their back catalog for gems.

I'm looking for sound quality here, not artistic merit. If someone says a cd sounds great, then I'll decide after if I like the music. Any suggestions for best 'sound' are greatly appreciated in this narrow MFSL CD window. Thanks!

I was trying to be more specific in my response to you for the benefit of everyone else - Just rephrasing your point, is all. I'm quickly learning with these forums that if you don't get the exact meaning across in the headline (or in the first posting), then all hell breaks loose with interpretations of the original intentions. I'm getting better with posting exactly what I'm looking for, but clearly I need to fine tune things.

  20. Well there is a bit of debate about Synchronicity. I personally think it's the best but others here differ.

I would agree with the U2 albums. They are amazing.
Jean Michel Jarre MFSL CDs are the best I have heard of Equinoxe and Oxygene.
Stevie Wonders Innervisions on MFSL is better than anything I have heard.
Pink Floyd The Wall/DSOTM are amazing on MFSL, but I only have the UK original CDs and the DSOTM SACD to compare them to and my Floyd vinyl has been gathering dust in the attic since 1988 with all my other vinyl.
