When it comes to interconnects, is there a tradeoff between clarity and soundstage imaging? I just bought an Audioquest Coral interconnecter. It's very detailed, but the soundstage isn't as good as my older Audioquest interconnecter that was cheaper.

You should audition new cables against the old. If the new cables are a sonic improvement over the old cables then you are making a step in the right direction. If the two sets of cables are like apples and oranges keep the old ones.

A good 40 year old port also makes the process go smoother.

Why should there have to be a difference? BTW, I had very bad experiences with Audioquest all around.

I use Kimber and I'm never going to switch.
