I wondered about that too. This one seems to fit the description-

but's it's a hundred bucks more than the guy in the MSNBC article says... he called the one he used a wave pre-amp....like it was matched to the lil mono blocks...maybe it's a product that hasn't come out yet.

a couple of people in the letters of enjoythemusic.com talk about the monoblocks.

A question from a newbie.... if you get two amps and get a case do they both go in the same case?

The late, great Listener Magazine reviewed those little mono blocks last year. It was tested with some high sensitivity speakers, mostly the Moth Audio Cicada (very cool speakers priced around $600). He also tested it with some older Linn Kanns speakers.

The reviewer was extremely impressed with these amps.
"Tonally, these amps had no real problems (again, given the right speakers). Symphonic music was lush and weighty. NPR's Saturday morning opera show was a delight."
They gave it 3 out of 5 stars (they seldom gave 5 stars to anything) for quality and for value they gave it "Every darn check you've got".

I think they mean the protector case that goes over the tubes and covers them...the tubes get real hot, small children could burn themselves on them if you dont enclose them in some way...

the cheaper alternative you just have the tubes exposed.

It's perfectly ok to leave them uncovered? Like I said I'm not really familiar with a amp/preamp set up.

    Wave Pre Amp

I think the writer is referring to this:

    http://www.tubehifi.com/amp/amp/L1/L1.htm

The www.tubehifi.com has the all the Anitque Sound Labs models listed.

While I don't have any experience with the Wave amps, I do have other Antique Sound Labs equipment that I enjoy very much (see my profile). Divertech may not have it on their website, but that doesn't mean they don't sell it. Send them an email if interested. I've bought from Divertech and they're ok.

    Is that a PHONO preamp?
