    Wow.
Remember that album well when it came out. Radio stations and nightclubs had it on rotation.

I'll be getting it, but the marketing guff seems overdone. And wrong.
I remember this being a digitally recorded album, the whole way through. Digital at 44.1/16 too. Ie., it's a low resolution digital recording.
Dunno what Giles Martin is talking about with half speed mastering, 45 rpm editions and all the rest of it. Maybe he knows something I don't. Maybe a whole lot of stuff was done analogue.

It's freaking awesome that INXS is releasing a Blue-ray Atmos 5.1 mix and sad that the Bowie estate and Jimmy Page can't be bothered. Go figure.

Oh, they'll probably sell it to you in a couple of years, after you've picked up the vinyl and multi-disc superdeluxe versions on CD. :)

Wow, I'm in! Love the album and this is one of the few that I don't have all the CD signles for yet, so the various mixes and edits will be welcome if mastered well.

I didn't bite on a single Led Zeppelin re-issue. No 5.1 means no sale. I feel the same way about the recent Bowie boxes. I'm perfectly happy with my rag tag collection of Diament and Sidore masters. They range from a Columbia House Record Club edition of the third album to a red face CBS Sony Japan Target of the fourth album. I did request every expanded version of the second album through Coda from the New Jersey inter-library loan system.

My guess is the standard CD version will continue to be crushed into dynamic range submission. Or maybe not. Album list - Dynamic Range Database

I have a Japanese CD pressing from '87 that includes a few bonus tracks, and that one's mastered well, so I'm good on the main album. I'd pick this up for the bonus tracks and the hi-res/video stuff. Maybe we'll get a surprise like the Tears for Fears' Big Chair box set and it'll be mastered well.

Don't know about the Dolby mix, but this version finally collects all the b-sides and remixes from 88, something the previous THREE deluxe editions failed to do.

My ex has the Japanese expanded Kick. I have a lossless copy on my hard drive but never listened to it.

MY original copy of Kick on vinyl sounds amazing so no need to replace that with a 45RPM 2 disc version of an album that lasts only 39 minutes, that means having to change discs every 10 minutes or so.

For vinyl enthusiasts, there will be a Half-Speed Remaster of the classic 1987 album cut over two heavyweight, 180g LPs at 45-RPM for supreme fidelity, cut by Abbey Road Studios’ Half-Speed Mastering pioneer, Miles Showell. Includes Download Card & certificate of authentication.

“Classic, fabulous pop songs that jump out of the speakers, now more than ever before!“ Andrew Farriss of INXS says of Kick’s new edition. “The latest INXS vinyl cuts are an outstanding sonic achievement, especially the Kick album. I was truly amazed to hear INXS’ recordings sounding so incredibly fresh, clear and kick-ass, like vinyl on steroids…”

But count me in on the 2 LP best of on silver vinyl.

The Very Best Of INXS cut at Abbey Road Studios & pressed to 2 x 180gram Heavyweight vinyl LPs Includes download card.

    Side A
    1 Need You Tonight
    2 Mystify
    3 Suicide Blonde
    4 Taste It
    5 Original Sin
    Side B
    1 Heaven Sent
    2 Disappear
    3 Never Tear Us Apart
    4 The Gift
    5 Devil Inside
    Side C
    1 Beautiful Girl
    2 By My Side
3 Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down The Mountain)
    4 Elegantly Wasted
    5 New Sensation

I might be in for this one. The previous 25th anniversary edition missed out on many of the remixes and a few of the videos which look to be included here.

I've seen a few movies presented in Dolby Atmos at AMC Prime/Dolby Cinema theaters and the generic knock off version in my local Cinemark XD theater. It's an interesting upgrade, but not essential. I think most most remixing engineers are still thinking about what to do with those extra channels. Giles Martin, you know that kid who remixed Sgt Pepper, took a swing at a theatrical remix of Sergent Pepper in Dolby Atmos for a one off theatrical listening parties.

I see this new set has two remixes of "New Sensation." Maybe the second will be the one I seem to remember from way back. 1987/88 was a long time ago and my memory is probably foggy, but the one on the deluxe edition doesn't seem to be it.

Honestly, I’m wondering about this one.
MoFi took a shot at Kick a couple of yesrs ago with a silver label edition. I don’t remember that sounding much better than my original copies. The 12” singles off Kick I recall as sounding very clean and rather two dimensional and small between the speakers - typical early 44.1/16 digital. Yes, it was nicely done, but I don’t remember this as being a sonic gem. At all.

I’ll have to play the 12” singles again....
But a 45 rpm issue of Kick??!!
This is a clean, but flat sounding record.
I gotta ask, and know before pulling the elusive disc trigger - what are the sources?
