Are those SACD hybrids still readily available?

Even if it's still in print, $5 is a good deal.

Put the $5.00 towards the MFSL SACD. Best digital version out there.

I just bought it for $11 bucks total on E-bay (new copy still sealed with a scratch through the bar code on the back cover )- worth every penny ! I enjoyed the surround sound immensely

Occasionally, I will still see some of the hybrid SACDs in stores, usually "John Wesley Harding" and "Love and Theft". I hadn't seen "BOTT" on Sony SACD in years in a store, which I why I just went the E-bay route

Yeah, there's no doubt that the MOFI 2 channel is amazing, but that's not the question, is it? Also, vinyl/digital bickering/threadcraps aside, I'll second the sentiment that for $5, the 5.1 surround mix is worth the price of admission alone. They must have sold a ton of these, as the original SACD can be found relatively cheaply, but the surround mix is a truly unique experience. I've got both the Sony and the MOFI. Both are essential.

Ditto. The 2 channel MFSL layer is better than the Sony.
The 5.1 layer is the same.

    MFSL has no 5.1 layer.

By God you are correct MYKE. I stand corrected.
    Thank you.
I have have both the Sony\Columbia and the MFSL and I posted without checking.
My apologies, the 2-channel Mo-Fi is a bit less brittle\harsh etc. than the original.
Whether one's system can resolve the small but obvious differences is another matter.
    Listen to the cymbals...

I'm in NYC, and all of our big music stores have closed. However, I have seen "JWH" and "LAT" on SACD just this week in a few Barnes & Nobles locations in my city

Actually yes, I got mine for around 7 or 8 in perfect condition after losing my first one. Do remember that some of these SACDs have some problems with flaking and such. And no these are not exactly available everywhere in great condition anymore at all.

You may be right that the MFSL is a bit less brittle than the Sony...However , I paid roughly 1/3 rd of the price of the MFSL version ($11) to get the Sony- and 5.1 Surround to boot

Please, I'm happy to hear that stores out there in America still stock SACDs, I'm in Seattle and I gave up looking long ago.
My ex worked at the U Bookstore and I got her 33% discount, their little music section had all of the Dylan Sony SACDs.
Bought them all back in the day.. Why wouldn't I?

Buy it before some other lucky fan snaps it up, it's a great deal and regardless of their being an MFSL release the Sony still sounds very good indeed.

$5 for an undesirable SACD is a good deal. I can't believe that this question is even being asked here.
