I just picked this up yesterday, it is a triple LP absolutely mint. Some great music on it. Anybody know much about it. I have never seen this before. Here is the track listing... JG
Columbia was hoping this would sell like Woodstck. It bombed. However it is a great live sampler. Hendrix, Winter, Allman's, Procul Harum. Can't go wrong. I've had mine for 35 years. Great. Another needle drop to do.lol
I bought this as a freshman in high school. With the exception of a looped whistle, which gets annoying, this is an excellent lp.
I found it in the dollar bins in the 90's. Since then there have been more complete releases of most of the performances, but still nice to have.
Always passed on it when it came into our used record shop (mis-80's). It was alright, but I was pissed that there were no WHO tracks from IOW....
...You mean to say that Columbia used the same looped cheering whistle that they sampled for the live Carlos Santana/Buddy Miles album, only here it runs on SIX LP sides??... (>>running to the street, screaming with flailing arms<<)
Here is a good page for the various releases of this Miles performance: www.plosin.com/milesAhead/Sessions.aspx?s=700829
Some horrible editing on this album. Recording quality is mostly bad too. Some of these sets have been reissued in (more) complete form in much better sound quality. That being said, it's a nice mixture of some cool artists (mostly from the Columbia stall) and some of the material remains otherwise unreleased.
Teo Macero produced the Isle Of Wight material, so it has some of the same abrupt editing heard on Miles's albums from this era.
Oh yeah, I used to have this - got it back in he late 80's. Completely forgotten that some of it came from the Atlanta Pop Festival (could have sworn it was all Isle of Wight).
