As a fan, is this length of time acceptable to you?

Will we see another Stones album do you think??

Mick Jagger speaking in 2012- Ariacharts.com

The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger says he has abandoned plans to release an album to coincide with their upcoming US and Canada tour because he’s convinced fans don't want to hear new music.
The band's last release was their 2012 greatest hits album, ‘GRRR!’, which featured two new songs. Prior to that, the band’s last studio album was their 2005 release, ‘A Bigger Bang’.
Jagger has revealed the rockers had been toying with the idea of making another record, but he fears fans now only want to hear the band's classic hits when they perform live.
"It would be nice to have a new album, but people don't like the new album when you play it on stage. They glumly look at you. 'OK, it will be over in a minute.' It's not a good excuse, but it's the truth and has to be said."

However bandmate Keith Richards hopes Jagger will change his mind about a new record once the veteran musicians conclude their upcoming tour.
Richards says, "The time to record a band is once they've been on the road a while so they're hot. We'll think about that while we're doing this [tour]. The world needs more Stones records. So do I."

Based on this, it doesn't sound like there'll be a new Stones album any time soon.

It would be nice to get one more, preferably with Mick Taylor involved.

Maybe even Bill Wyman, or is that asking too much?

Since 1989, the Stones have only released 4 albums in 25 years. Plus there was an 8 year gap between Bridges to Babylon and A Bigger Bang. The Stones seem less inclined to put out new stuff these days. As they say, the fans only seem to want to hear the old songs.

Wayne Perkins, Carlos Santana, Steve Hillage, Hank Marvin...and perhaps the essence of the later day Stones lead guitar sound Ry Cooder.

I doubt we will see another new album. I am a major Stones fan, with all their official albums in my collection, plus hundreds of concert concert recordings. If a new album was anything like Bigger Bang, I would prefer the Stones skip it. Bridges to Babylon would have been a respectable swan song.

An album of blues covers could be a good way to finish, go back to their roots, might be a fitting way to end.

The front cover could feature a modern day version of the first album photo.

Release it on vinyl only (just kidding)

    Swan song either ...
Black And Blue or Some Girls.
Exile ' would have been ideal.

It's sad - these guys should be able to make music whenever they feel like it. (Though I suppose they do.)

Well now, I would say "Steel Wheels" was the last truly great Stones album.

Nine years? It feels more like last week. Has time ceased flying and come to a standstill?!

It has been 9 years since the last Rolling Stones album. When its title was first mentioned in 2005, "A Bigger Bang", I immediately knew this was going to be the last one because that is a pun on the saying "they went out with a bang".

It's kind of sad but by now, I've accepted it.

I thought it was supposed to be a play on the name of the "Big Bang"-theory, but I can see why you thought of it the way you did.

There are many musicians who keep making music and putting out records in spite of fans wanting to hear only the hits in concert. Neil Young and Bob Dylan come to mind. Think that excuse is a bit of a stretch!

"Voodoo Lounge" could be the exception, I think it's a super album.

I'd be happy with another Mick album along the lines of "Wandering spirit".

I thought artists put out art as an expression of themselves, not to please the masses. I say put another one out. Nice and bluesy double album at that.

I really don't know what The Stones should do. I think they have run out of new ideas, last couple of records have proven that, they could probably do a few good singles more and a few mini tour. But you never know with these guys.
