I was asking the community based on their experiences. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

My wife liked it. She commented on how much Jim McAvoy
resembled the younger Dave Davies in this role:

No one has mentioned Fail Safe? There is about 30 seconds of female in that one.

Mentioning this movie, Dr. Stranglelove or How I Stopped Worrying And Love The Bomb comes to mind. As far as I remember there is only one woman in the entire movie.

The Man Who Would Be King.

Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Christopher Plummer and director John Huston each at the top of his game.

(So was Rudyard Kipling, for that matter).

Were there even ANY women in that movie? Anyway, I'd choose:

Reservoir Dogs (although most women I know like Tarantino... still you wouldn't watch it on a first date, I suppose...)

Freeway (strong female lead, but still feels like a man's flick for some reason)

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (come on... I don't really have to explain that ;) )

    American Psycho
    Scarface
    The Great Escape
    The Godfather
    Ben Hur
    GoodFellas
    8MM
Once Upon A Time in America
    Seven
    Duck, You Sucker
    Aguirre, Wrath of God
Au revoir, les enfants (very emotional, but it just whacks you... I wouldn't ever want to watch it again, although it's fabulous)
    Mutiny on the Bounty
    Carlito's Way

  10. I tried watching Ice Station Zebra recently and, while I enjoyed it, the film is too long and the pacing isn't quite as good as I remember it. Patrick McGoohan and Ernest Borgnine are the highlights of the film though with McGoohan bringing energy and intensity that is lacking in scenes without him.
Master and Commander--Man, I wish that Weir had done a sequel to this film. Sure, it didn't make much money (if at all) but it is a marvelous film with great performances.
Lawrence of Arabia still resonates for me and stands up well against modern epics that have more rapid pacing. The pacing for Arabia works perfectly and O'Toole deserved the Oscar and was robbed.
The Naked Prety--A marvelous variation on The Most Dangerous Game/
The Great Escape-a great Sturges movie and it doesn't suffer from the use of the obvious stage in Ice Station Zebra. James Garner remains my favorite character in the film despite the great presence of Steve McQueen.

    For me it's:
    The Godfather Part II
    The Godfather
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (yep, it has some women in it but it's not about the women).
Point Blank-a surreal thriller from John Boorman.
High Plains Drifter. Eastwood at his most "unforgiving" as a ghost committing the most horrible revenge on the most horrible people imaginable.

I'm trying to decide if Faster Pussycat Kill Kill fits in with this category or not. The film's main characters are strong females, but being a Russ Meyer film the focus tends to be on two particular assets of those female characters.

The Deathstalker quadrilogy, 80s fantasy sword an sorcery flicks with nonstop gratuitous nudity. Within the first 10 minutes our hero attempts to assault a damsel in distress he just saved. It gets worse from there. Not recommend to watch with your lady friend lol.
