The BBC sessions should be released as a single disc

I'm going to stick with the evaluation I made in 1971 - I like them!

Once the band wrested creative control from management, didn't they drop the early bubblegum numbers from their act?

totally agree .. I just recently bought the 9 disc box set - Sensational Sweet: Brian Connolly Years 71-77
BBC sessions disc is one of them, probably the reason why I got... It appears some songs from the BBC disc are getting posted today youtube

All that girlish squealing at the beginning of ‘ballroom blitz’ is classic pseudo-glam.

I recently got into The Sweet and I thoroughly enjoy them. Great band!!! I got their box set on vinyl recently and love it!!! They could rock with the best of them.

Hate the look, love the sound! I didn't know their story till I read about Connolly today. Ugh.. is being a rock star ever worth it?

Yeah, that's basically what I was going to say. I particularly love the mid-70s hard rock period, and I loved that stuff at the time, in the mid-70s. I like their other material, too. I'd rather stick with that evaluation than reevaluate them.

You might need to reevaluate Foghat, but it looks like you have a good evaluation of Sweet. ;-)

That's a very nice bill! I wasn't a huge Foghat fan - I did like them. I must say they were a very good, fun band live. Every Cheap Trick show I've seen was great.

I loved Sweet when I was 6 - I thought they were the coolest thing ever.

In retrospect, only Brian Connolly looked good, the rest of the band looked terrible in the make-up.

Undeniably a great band, though, even if I don't (now) much like the Chinnichap material.

Check out those B-sides: lots of neglected gems.

They’re a bit “Twee” looking but they rock. Always a great time listening to them.

funny The Sweet should get mentioned, I recently bought a 2CD compilation of theirs, I didn't have anything by them previously. The later hard rock stuff sounds good, haven't given it all a proper listen yet though.

You should check out “Give Us A Wink.” That is my favorite of theirs.
    * “Off The Record” is great too.*
