I loved the first season, binge watching it over the summer. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the "reveal" of Ed Harris' character. The problem is that I've seen him in films when he was young (Knightriders) and know what he looks like at that age. That aspect felt like a cheat to me.
It's Anthony Hopkins - that graze on his head isn't makeup. Sir Anthony Hopkins attracts crowds as he films adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear in Stevenage But he evidently was able to complete his filming of King Lear, so perhaps he just needs some time off to heal up and feel better.
In the event that anyone is interested in Atmos, I appear to have been mistaken that the BR set had an Atmos soundtrack. Online reviews say it does not. I canceled my BR order, and ordered the 4K. I won’t benefit from the 4K for a while but I can enjoy Atmos now, and it was only $8 more.
I have my set (red tin can) on the way from Zavvi to home in Spain. It was shipped last wednesday so it should arrive later this week, I can't wait to watch it. I loved the show, I liked even more the ending and having all this on UHD BD with 4K picture and HDR although I read on other forums that its picture is sometimes on the soft side and they made a conservative use of HDR, which is something I like.
Just watched this again on Blu-ray. So much more fluid and cohesive and enjoyable this way. BRILLIANT television imo.
I loved the first season despite feeling cheated by the Ed Harris reveal. Glad we're past that gimmick and looking forward to Season 2. How are the extras on the Blu-ray?
The extras are ok. The one I found most interesting was on the last disc which discusses the finale and what the setup is for Season 2.
I thought it was brilliant. (ed Harris reveal). And I kicked myself for not picking up on it in spite of the obvious clues... (search west world on youtube and there's some cool videos that point out all the signs). I had figured the one storyline was a flashback based on the ******* guy (i'm horrible with names) being all about investing in the place, while we as the viewer new that the place was losing money. There were also a few times when characters were in 2 different places in different storylines.... But in spite of this I still missed it. My wife and I binge-watched the season in about a week. I'd like to think I wouldn't have missed it if I had all week to think in between episodes. But I may still have.
Oh, the Westworld thread is back from the dead? Can I say it was too slow and repetitious again and be castigated for not being a thread love fester? They even did a now classic SNL sketch about movie opinions about what we war over here. I have an "I'M WITH KEENAN ON WESTWORLD" button.
Jumpcut. Dolores character was boring. First half,ssslllloooowww. At least season 1 went out with a bang.
several episodes in on Season one now, but losing interest in some way. Not sure if there is enough actual story to sustain my interest. Visually it is cool, but beyond that, I keep thinking not a lot is really happening and it feels like not enough plot spread out over many hours? I really want to like it and do to some extent, but it feels like a 3-4 hour plot turned into an extended series.
Funny, when when season one ended it seemed like season two was so far away and now I find myself surprised that it’s here already.
