Third Man has shared news that Jack has been recording his new album in New York and Los Angeles. Outside of Carla Azar, Jack looks to be recording with entirely new (and not surprisingly, incredibly photogenic) bands.

    Can't wait to hear more!

As good as Blunderbuss was, Lazzaretto was a big disappointment! Let's hope he comes back with a winner.

Great to hear it, been waiting for another album for quite a while now.

Do we know the names of anyone in this new band? I don't recognize any of them, but I'm not great with faces.

  4. Glad to hear he's working on new music. Holding out for a New Raconteurs record myself.

Any new work by Jack is good news for us all.

Always loved this one in particular, with Beck:

I too wish he would do another raconteur project. But this is good news nonetheless.

For me, the White Stripes albums got more interesting as they got more eccentric. Jack's solo work seems very mainstream by comparison, but to be fair, I am predisposed to the weirder side of life. The last thing he did that really engaged me was the first Raconteurs album. Here's hoping he breaks some new ground.

Just like The Strokes - we are so starved of genre examples now that I'd wish he would just go back and give us more of the stuff that blew the dust off Guitar music in the first place!!

I can see a Peavey EVH Wolfgang guitar, which is probably more of a surprise!

Isn't the bass player Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Sean Lennon's other half in The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger?

"Connected By Love". Man, I really don't like this. Aside from the synths/keyboards, it's really bland. The other new song, "Respect Commander," is far superior. Lots of interesting stuff going on there. Weird Talking Heads-ish percussion. More keys/synths, crazy guitar solo.

It looks like he fired part of the band on the day of the photo shoot.

Have to agree that Connected By Love kind of sounds like by-the-numbers solo White. I've held out hope that he'll do something interesting since leaving the Stripes but everything has left me pretty cold. Respect Commander is definitely the better of the two tracks, but once his voice comes in the quality dives. Would have been more interesting as an instrumental. I'll still check out the album when it comes out, though.

Two quite different songs. I like the buildup on Connected By Love, and the guitar solo is interesting. Respect Commander seems superior, and infinitely more interesting. A nice modulation on the sound JWIII boxed himself into on the first two solo records. In total, I don't find myself incredibly interested in this stuff.

But, really, let's be honest. Most folks approach new Jack solo material by thinking about how much they'd rather he could just get Meg out of the house already.

I think Connected By Love is great and stripping away the band and adding an acoustic guitar you are left with a fine White Stripes song. But I like it as it is. Very promising IMO.

I agree with TheWarmth, much better than 'Connected By Love'.

As a longtime fan these 3 new songs are disappointing. Lazaretto grew on me, I don’t see these songs getting any better.
