So do they go somewhere different or do they use this one for the way they want the next JB to go or just another JB movie.

Too bad Craig coming back. Him riding off with Lea Seydoux at the end of Spectre should have been his exit.

And the latest news as of today:

Daniel Craig isn’t stepping away from 007 after all. The actor is set to reprise his role as the world’s most famous British Secret Service agent for a fifth time on the big screen, following “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace,” “Skyfall” and “Spectre.” Two sources close to production have confirmed the news with The New York Times, citing Craig’s return to the franchise as a “done deal.”

My interpretation of this is: "They're going to pay Daniel Craig enough money that he's set for life." I'm guessing $100M guaranteed for two films. I think he played hardball for a couple of years and forced the producers to make a tough decision, and it was easier to hire him back for too much money than gamble on a new guy.

I read something (fake?)although it's a done deal, they couldn't find him for confirmation, maybe stall bait, more publicity.

Excellent in "Prometheus." She would be an equal to Bond.

A character like Dr. Who could easily be portrayed in his/her next regeneration by a woman, but change Bond's gender and the character is no longer Bond.
'Atomic Blonde' opens in a couple of days.

It has already been established that James Bond is a code name. Recall that Lazenby said "This never happened to the other guy," So we have established that anyone can be Bond, so why not a woman?

Is it "established" that "James Bond" isn't the character's real name anywhere other than via Lazenby's quip?

Her fight scenes aren't that worked out /choreographed, ala John Wick 2, but it looks like her best film yet, at 42...no less.

The preponderance of the evidence points to Bond being a real name and the "other guy" quip being Lazenby the actor breaking the fourth wall:

    * the obituary for Bond written by M in the You Only Live Twice novel and his backstory as explained in Spectre have Bond's parents being killed in a climbing accident
    * the headstones of said parents, Andrew Bond and Monique Delacroix Bond in Skyfall
    * the opening of For Your Eyes Only has Roger Moore's Bond mourning George Lazenby's Bond's wife Tracy

I recommend setting the Wayback machine to "1963", tapping off your caps lock, and enjoying Lotte Lenya as Rosa Klebb in "From Russia with Love".

I'd really be shocked if it's a 2 movie deal. I have zero problem with paid money.

    At least 1 movie.
    Daniel Craig will be 51/52
    2020.

Craig signed on for two more Bond films in 2012, just prior to the release of Skyfall... one was definite (which became Spectre), the other optional as far as we can tell, although producer Michael G. Wilson stated in an interview in 2015 that they didn't have a contract with Craig, so who the hell knows anymore?

I don't think Craig will sign on for two more films, not for any amount of money offered to him, he certainly doesn't need it... I think at this point, he's one more and done... and I'm more than good with that; redeem his tenure after the Spectre debacle and leave with his head held high, another film after that would be pushing his luck.

It would be great if they made 25 a standalone that disregards the shoehorned mythology of Spectre but with Purvis & Wade handling scripting I have a feeling it's going to be a QoS-style sequel.

Yes, totally established. Plus Craig's bond seems to be newer on the job than Connery. M also changed genders, by the way. Welcome to the 21st century.
