I can't wait. I think this is going to be THE movie of the year. Anyone else agree ?

  2. It looks promising but I'll reserve judgment.

Uhhh, isn't the word "substance" in that url a bit misleading? Not much info there.

I dunno. It looks just wayyyyy too CGI for my tastes. Did anyone else pick up a 'Nightbreed' feel to the creatures (whatever they may be)?

Ack! It's the Uncanny Valley effect again!

I agree, it looks wonky, but ya know, Cameron's a brilliant guy. I bet a failure from him would still be a better film than a hit from a lot of other directors. (Take Michael Bay, please.)

I'll skip this one; don't really care for Cameron's previous films and Avatar looks to be way too CGI-cartoony. I thought with all the hoopla surrounding the technology he used that it would look much, much better/more realistic than the trailer released today. Oh well.

Well, I would guess you can tell as much about the movie from this trailer as you can about the Beatles remasters from the sound samples that have been released! I look forward to seeing what Cameron has come up with. Even if not perfect it will likely be more interesting than much of all the other stuff released.

I was able to read a very brief description of Avatar here, but Apple's Quicktime doesn't work on this vintage computer :( so I was curious if: is this more of an action/adventure story; an action story with some "deep" concepts thrown in for good measure; or a "deep" movie with action on the side?

I love sci-fi stories with aliens so hopefully this is a good one.

  18. The hoopla was regarding the 3-D technology not the CGI effects.

Looks like a bad video game. This will probably do about as well as that godawful Final Fantasy CGI movie from a few years ago.

  20. Nah. I think Cameron's name along with the 3D will sell quite a few tickets.

I have to say that the forthcoming video game of Dante's Inferno looks just as, ifnot more than, compelling than Avatar.

I thought some of the hoopla was around the motion capture technology. Too much hoopla. :D

Just seen the 15mn 3 times in IMAX 3D. James Cameron makes history again. You have seen nothing if you haven't seen this in 3D. It's like seeing a sound movie, or color movie for the first time.

So instead of seeing bad CGI, I'd get to see bad CGI in 3-D? Oh boy!

Sorry, but the 3-D gimmick does nothing for me. It isn't going to make a bad CGI effects-fest a good movie.
