Janet Jackson could be releasing a new album ("Unbreakable") this summer!

It’s been reported that the legendary R&B/Pop star Janet Jackson is making a comeback with her new record deal; she’s allegedly signed with Atlantic Records. Janet reportedly will be releasing an album this summer in July. Ms. Jackson may be making a comeback after her album “Discipline” was released six years ago.

Originally thought to be a leaked Atlantic Records schedule, most major music stores are now confirming Jackson has an untitled album available for pre-order and due 7 July.

A journalist at Stereogum reportedly called the Ridgewood FYE music store, who confirmed that if you go to the shop you can pre-order a new album from Janet Jackson, although there’s "no album title, artwork or record label info".

Could it be some sort of best of/greatest hits type thing?

 

It better not be! I already have her greatest hits. Nobody is gonna buy that. She needs to release an album of new material with Jimmy Jam. I'd also love to hear a collaboration with Pharrell.

 

It's just that when artists get older, they put out comps whether the market wants them or not. If it's a new album it should be good as she's had years to come up with new material?

But Janet, please...no more interludes!

This is from last August, but it sounds like a new album.

I wouldn't mind some kind of best of compilation since I only have four of her older albums, and a greatest hits package would be great!

But for the devoted fan, a new album is always more interesting.

 

That won't help Bobby! Lol I loved All For You & Velvet Rope and you didn't even care for those. In fact, I don't even think you gave them a chance and one of them (VR) is crowned her artistic peak.

 

She has got comps out though, hasn't she? I remember one called Decade(?) many years ago...

Heard VR once years and years ago, but honestly can't remember it. I used to work with a girl who was obsessed with JJ and she forced me to listen to her albums. Never heard All For You., but I did hear one called 20YO. Is that the title? Didn't think that was great.

 

Or it might be another disappointment. Janet has had her cheesy moments but nothing as distasteful as "Bitch, I'm Madonna". Lol
One of her most cringeworthy moments was "Put your number in my sidekick" ugh!

This song isn't helping me become a Janet fan! When they multi-track her voice though, she sounds an awful lot like Michael..

 

20YO is easily her worst album to date. It's so bad it makes her first two albums seem like Pop masterpieces.
All For You is is just a slice of Pop heaven. It's very sugary though. That may turn off fans of Velvet Rope (the more experimental side of Janet) but I think you'd like it.

You don't remember sidekicks? They were so freakin popular in the 00's.

 

I didn't mind those singles. If I was going to take a chance on Janet, I'd probably go for the All For You album.

It's a little too on the sweet side but at least it's super catchy and doesn't sound forced like everything after.

Janet was 40 something when she sang that lyric. Imagine her texting some dude on a sidekick. Lol Only teenagers had those. So weird.
I had one in 10th grade. AIM was a big deal back then.
