Chicago Fan since their inception, and have never cared for his voice at all. Maybe because (IMHO) no one couple replace Cetera. Feel the same way about Journey without Steve Perry....To me, there are just some people in bands that cant be replaced...

Yeah, that story broke here a couple weeks ago. The lineup seemed stable for a fairly long time, then Champlin and Scheff both get replaced. Chicago is now Lamm, the horns and whoever else shows up, but its over when Lamm leaves.

And whatever you think of Scheff's singing, he was Cetera's equal as a bass player.

Bummer. So not a lot of the original members are left. Only very few of them are there.

Guess his father, Jerry, had a grat influence on him in regards of bass playing :)

  7. Has he been traded to Cleveland?

Still, in my opinion, there are hardly any original members left in the band.

Four out of the original seven. Not a bad percentage almost 50 years later.

Four out of 7 ain't bad at all. Look at Yes.....not a single original member in the band anymore.

...although I've read that the horn players have guys who show up in their place for some gigs.

And in fact they haven't lost an original since Seraphine was kicked out 25 years ago. Even Parazaider seems to be back full time. (I think the replacement hornmen are used less often than they were a few years ago).

Has anyone else seen the "American Supergroup" TV show?

It's on a few channels but I caught it on MTV Live last week. It's another American Idol knockoff, they gather a bunch of "top" unknown musicians and form them into 5 bands to compete against each other to find the next "supergroup". The concept sounds a lot better than the show actually is although, to be fair, it's only 2 episodes in so far.

I bring it up because Scheff is on the show as one of the judges (along with Jennfier Nettles, Aloe Blacc, and Elle King).

I aappreciate Jason Scheff for "Will You Still Love Me?" and being a loyal member of the band twice as long as Peter Cetera. I hope he does well in his future endeavors. As for Chicago I have seen them a dozen or so times and that will probably be it.

Never been a fan of Scheff's voice, his very good but unmelodic bass playing and his songwriting.
Longevity as a member of the band does not matter much when the band is already over the hill.

The band has never missed a show. Individual members have.

Right: Chicago has never missed a gig that they've showed up to play.
