I think Sam Rivers was too busy to have many 'what if?' moments about Wayne Shorter. Besides Dave Liebman, I can't think of another saxophone player who came through the Davis band after Wayne that comes close to what Sam Rivers did as a solo artist. Plus, remember that Wayne was with Miles when he plugged in. Those were the guys, including Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, Dave Holland, John McLaughlin, and Herbie Hancock, who became 'acclaimed'.

To say that that's a somewhat narrow-minded view wouldn't come close to capturing it. Everyone Miles worked with, before and after the electric period, was acclaimed in any and all ways.

Been enjoying the Rez abbasi and Chet baker stuff all weekend, and I don't see that changing ;)

Last night was a lot of fun-great venue, and the band stretched out on what I feel to be standards (from the 70s)... The album is a bit smooth for my tastes, but live, the band stretched out the same tunes and gave solid takes on the material (set list: Black Market, Butterfly, Joyous Lake, Resolution, Medieval Overture, Red Baron, There Comes A Time)

Sometimes the postman brings something other than bills and junk mail. Found the two new MM 33's sitting on the stoop yesterday. This Quebec date is sublime.

Thanx. I was surprised that the XRCD is so cheap and was wondering if there was a issue with that version.

Just edited my post and added a picture of the XRCD. Some internet stores are selling the XRCD at a discount to clear their stock; it's OOP.

I am going to have to explore some of these Japanese players, sooner than later, and my wallet is already screaming...
