Happen to be spinnin' the portable table top radio past the local Jazz FM station and was "blown away" by a cut I heard. I was sure this was a 30's-40's thing 'cause of the playing. The rhythm and pace were "right on". The instrumentals had that authentic not "snore bore clone" sound. I waited until the end and luckily they actually announced who it was. I proceeded to search the AMG and found the artist and recording. It s the John Sheridan band and the cut was 'My Extraordinary Girl' off a new album called Get 'Rhythm in Your Feet'.

Here is a copy info from the AMG page so please, if you are familiar with this band let me know what you think of them. If that one cut is any indication then these guys are good enough to be the genuine article:

There's no question that Sheridan is the "genuine article," as you put it. He's a revivalist, I suppose, but I don't mean that in a negative sense. He's dedicated to keeping a particular set of older styles alive and popping. He's a gifted swing and stride pianist and writes crack medium-sized big band arrangements in a distinctly pre-war manner (actually more than one pre-war manner), as your ears (and the rest of your body, I imagine) have already told you. It's nice stuff.
