I hope someone can help me with this one. Is there any sonic difference in these tweeters or is it shape and styling?

What does the -4 and -2 mean?

Actually now I'm more confused. Am I missing something?

The bottom JBL type has cosmetic silver "rings" around the rims and dark diffraction reducing "foam".

The middle type has smaller and harder foam "bubbles" and looks darker.

The top sample has more "Open" softer foam and looks grayer..

I take that to mean the difference is in design and or looks only. Thank you.

Yeah, sound-wise they are practically the same. Perhaps some would argue a difference, but it's fairly minor. Mostly due to the different diffraction type of foam used around the cones. And the later variant could have been made by slightly different processes, perhaps, or perhaps not. I don't know. These probably vary in build-era by perhaps 10 years or so? Hard to know for sure, unless you consult a JBL historian, or expert. From what I seem to remember, the "ring" variant is newer, the gray foam is earlier, but that's just a vague memory of it, and I could be wrong.
