I wish the New Year's Eve MTV show he did with the Stray Cats would be released. Jeff sounded great with them.

    That's a fantastic show. I haven't seen that in a while.

I really wish the Doobies' 1978 concerts from Oakland (12/30) and Los Angeles (12/31) would be released. The band was really on fire at that point, and Jeff Baxter really pushed those guys.

The solos I remember from Steely Dan usually turn out to have been by Danny Dias. Get a Pentagon contract and you can make history anything you want.

Here's St. Louis School of Rock student Connor Low playing My Old School. Some might remember this kid playing Yes songs backing Jon Anderson:

Is it also Skunk imitating a muted trumpet, in addition to his steel playing?

    It's his birthday again tomorrow.

Here is the Skunk playing Rikki Don't Lose That Number at the 2016 NAMM show, showing that the Skunk still has it in spades:

It's not just the solo, but the subtle lead and rhythmic fills throughout this song that is special about Jeff's playing.

Old thread but some things i was googling about Steely Dan solos landed me here. You mentioned his steel playing on Brooklyn (wonderful!) and I'd like to add his pedal steel sound on Razor Boy. Combined with the vibes on that song it makes my hair stand on end every time.
