Am I the only one who cannot read the words "Jerry Weintraub" without hearing it spoken by Don Kirshner in my head?

I'd like to thank Jerry Weintraub and his excellent A&R staff at...

Seriously, he seemed to be mentioned by Don nearly every episode of Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.

I agree he seemed to be mentioned by Don nearly every episode of that show, but Jerry did leave a tremendous legacy in entertainment.

On KNX radio tonight, someone was telling a great story about him booking Elvis and having to tear out seats in Miami so the place was booked full. Elvis, did not want empty seats. Some deal he had with E

I saw that he apparently managed Dylan for awhile. His management was listed on the Live Buddakan album.

  9. Funny that I met the Jerry in about 1983 or so.

My mother's husband's company had a private jet around Denver, and there was John Denver's jet sitting on the tarmac, close by. No sign of John, but Jerry said he'd be along shortly. I never met John and I didn't know Jerry by name, only that they said he was John Denver's manager. After all, I was only about 10.

I was thrilled, though, that I got to tour John's little jet...and I was shocked, as a 10 year old, to find a Playboy magazine laying in one of the seats. It was open at the centerfold.

It seems Jerry was looking at a little T&A. :)

    Celebrate life.

Just think, by Friday there will be a triple bill concert, with Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and John Denver, with the video by Robert Altman, and God is wondering aroud Heven saying "why won't he shut up?" And, what is Jerry Weintraub most proud of?, That NOW, everybody knows that his book title, wasn't a lie. RIP

My prayers go out to all his friends and family.

He'll always be 'Jilly from Philly', from the "Vegas Vacation" movie to me!
The doc about him, "His Way" was quite entertaining.

Wow... I started reading his autobiography yesterday as a random choice and got halfway through it by 11.30pm it is so good. Imagine my shock when I turn on my phone this morning and check the BBC news...

    I enjoyed his work.

I shall cheer myself up by reading Tony Blair's autobiography...you never know...

There was also his autobiography, co-written with Rich Cohen, titled When I Stop Talking, You'll Know I'm Dead. Well, he stopped talking, so . . . :(

But in all seriousness, he was also the one who brought Zager & Evans and their lone charted hit, "In The Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)" to RCA Victor in 1969; it sat atop the charts for 6 weeks. Looks like he had some "in" at RCA, as well, given his connections with Denver and Elvis as well as those one-hit wonders.

And to think Jane Morgan would outlive him . . .

Why does the title of this thread say "legendary" manager of John Denver? Did he really do something legendary in the name of management of John Denver??

The reason why I said legendary manager is that he managed John for much of his legendary career like what Col. Tom Parker is to Elvis.

It was reported that Weintraub and John Denver had a "falling out" in the 1980's. What are the details of this?
