Looks promising. It will hopefully help get today's generation buying Frankie Valliand the Four Seasons' music.

Pity. Hard to copy Valli's quasi falsetto.

I hadn't heard about this until I randomly saw the trailer on IMDb last night - I was surprised it's coming out June 20 already! And doubly surprised to see Eastwood as the director!

I saw it on Broadway just recently - sometime last fall. There's something about the storytelling that's very "stage" to me and not very "cinema." It'll be interesting to see how it holds up for a full length film. It works fine as a live musical, but I'm just not sure how well that method will translate to film.

I think it will be a nice addition to my Clint Eastwood collection.

Meh. That's what the records are there for. I'd rather see something done as part of a performance. Granted, on film they're lip-synching regardless, but at least it will hope to capture some of what makes the stage musical special.

That's exactly what I was about to type.

I assume it's a lot easier to mix a newly-recorded track into 5.1 surround than it would be to mix old 60's masters, anyway.

And yeah, we will always have the albums to go back to.

Plus, they get to sell the new recordings on the soundtrack which means another income stream.

Sure, it's a cash-in record, but you can't really argue with the great content of both discs. :) I'd have totally bought that in 1964.

I'll hand it to Vee-Jay, that was a pretty clever way to market a bunch of old songs they had the rights to.

  12. And I bought it.

I got my Mom tickets for the touring Broadway version for her Christmas present last year. She will get to see it in Knoxville next week.

Interesting it will soon be a movie, too.

I wish I did buy it as it's worth quite a bit nowadays. Vee Jay. I do have one 4 Seasons Vee Jay album.

Genuinely shocked to see Eastwood's the director of this!

The trailer makes it look like he's imitating Scorsese for it, though...

Perhaps this is why it took so long to get to the big screen.
Back in 2012, my wife & I went to London to visit her sister.
During the trip we saw Jersey Boys.
My sister-in-law, who wasn't familiar with the music, enjoyed the show as much as we did.

Does anyone under 50 want to see this?

This film will be this year's "Larry Crowne".

Why would you think someone would have to be 50 or older to want to see this movie?

It may be difficult for folks on a MUSIC Forum populated with primarily baby boomers to even comprehend that a film about a somewhat minor U.S. recording act from the early 1960's would have appeal in 2014 to folks who were born after 1970.

I personally can't wait to see "The Duran Duran Story" in theaters in 2034!

The broadway show was a massive success, which is why we're getting this movie...
