I wonder why they haven't used restored audio in Moths video :(

    So here it is

Yes, indeed....but that’s like saying French sounds like Swahili to me. It doesn’t!

Irish pub songs, I wonder how different it could be from the ‘other’ Irish folk songs w/o the beer. :D

Thank you! I am never any good at finding DVD and Blu-Ray Easter Eggs. I actually find them quite irritating.

Assuming that the Moths clip uses what originally accompanied it (and assuming that what orginally accompanied it is just a fold of the standard stereo mix) I am happy about getting the original audio. I prefer to get the full promo video experience! Compare this with the early ‘68 Corporal Clegg mimed performance on the Pink Floyd Early Years box - when they did the mimed performance there was only an early mix missing the ending that was recorded later, but on the box they used the final stereo (as I recall) mix of the song with the re-recorded ending. A total fail.

This is a little different though, I guess, as it is the same recording and mix, albeit folded down. Maybe they could have had original mix and remix listening options for the videos?

I’m pleasantly surprised at how immersive the 5.1 mix of Berne is. Most live surround mixes I’ve heard previously seemed to just consist of largely audience ambience in the rear speakers.

Ummmm, I would take my pivot step and then walk with the ball...........:p I would much rather have Broadsword. I have never been a fan of A and don't think I would buy anything associated with it.

I'll definitely buy A. It's a fine underrated album with unique sound. And the original mix isn't very good, it deserves better treatment.

Bursting out is definitely a better recording than this live collection. Better vocals

And to me Ian’s voice on BO is not what he sounded like in concert. Seems to have way too much echo.

Maybe but still sounds good :righton:
Quatrain is a bit different too. Has the cool organ bit

  17. Bursting Out is now retired in my home. It’s been supplanted by this live set.

I think A will make many of us reassess this album. I'm as guilty as most as I can't recall the last time a played it, but it has all those fine tunes you mentioned. It's very much a bridge between the classic 70's Tull sound and line up, and the 80's synth stuff, but there could be some gems lurking in the cupboard, fingers crossed!

I rate it. I prefer it over Minstrel. I did prefer it over Too old but now that has jumped up with the extra unreleased goodies added to the remix

It's the remix that would draw me in. I've really felt that the production/mix let down the A album in the worst way. Worse than anything that's laid at the doorstep of Under Wraps by a mile.

Regarding A, I remember Ian saying that there were problems with the tapes (an issue others have mention with analog tape in the 80's) to the point where the "Black Sunday" masters were wearing out only a few days after they recorded it. If Steven Wilson can salvage them that could be very interesting.

A sounds fine. It's Broadsword they need top fix first. Especially beastie, jackalynn, clasp, puss willow, I'm your gun. Turn the volume and mid to high frequencies down on those bloody drums and take out some reverb from other drum tracks please :unhunh:
