Hilariously, that's the ONE JT Deluxe Edition I have not bought. It was just too much and too pricey. Wonder if it's any different now? Ha Ha!
That's the one I got. Unfortunately, that still leaves a big Aqualung-shaped hole in my wall-o-Tull-DE's. (tm)
To clear a few things up for some confused board members: TOTRR is being released on 27th november. Steven Wilson WAS supposed to remix SFTW next as per only a phrase that IA said. Steven Wilson himself stated that although NOT confirmed, the plan was to go back to 1969 and Stand Up net. Steven Wilson will stop with Stormwatch (confirmed by IA and SW). So, appart from the release of TOTRR, NOTHING has been officially confirmed at this point. And I guess we will have to wait for early 2016 to see how all of this goes on.
Thank you! I asked about this a while back and since nobody replied <until this post> I thought I may have asked a dumb question.
YAY! So freaking glad to see that he's going up to Stormwatch!! Seems others don't like this LP for some reason, but I love it.
http://jethrotullgroup.proboards.com/post/2310 TJTG - Many of those fans who enjoy the album [Walk Into Light], and it's Tull successor ‘Under Wraps’, were happy with the move towards a different sound but the decision to use the Linn drum machine has been criticised with many saying they would love to hear those tracks again with "real" drums, was the electronic drum sound something you were totally comfortable with at the time? Are there any tracks you might revisit to incorporate a real drum sound? IA - The Linn Drum actually was programmed with my own Ludwig drum kit, sampled from the audio of me hitting the damn things! Of course, I would love to have ‘Walk Into Light’ and then ‘Under Wraps’ re-recorded with real drums. Especially ‘Under Wraps’ which has some great songs and great playing from Martin especially. Probably my most ambitious vocals too, except they wrecked my voice after a couple of tours of live singing every night.
I'd be happy for SW to go at least as far as Crest of a Knave, but if he is not a fan of the 8o's material I am sure there are other remix engineers (Jakko?) who would be only to willing to give the likes of Broadsword a shot....
For those interested, here's the interview where he mentioned SFTW was coming. I had a limited amount of space so I didn't put that particular quote in, but he did tell me SW was now working on it. Also some very frank talk here about his voice among other things: http://artsfuse.org/136346/fuse-rock-interview-ian-anderson-on-jethro-tull-the-rock-opera/
Never warmed up to "songs from the wood", but I'm all in for "heavy horses". My favorite aside from "a passion play"
Interview with IA: In 2016 we plan to launch "Songs from the wood" (1977), also remixed by Steven Wilson, who also is working on "Stand Up" (1969). The latter is an important album for me because it was my debut with eclectic and influenced by classical music and jazz songs. I pulled to write at 21, and was the first "real" album the group.
