I have a Thorens TD166II on my second system. Bought it on Ebay for $400 with a Shure IV Type II cartridge. Just mounted a new JICO SAS stylus on it. For a first listen, it sounds very good. Good to see somebody supporting old carts with quality styli.

Love Jico and what they are doing. Have bought many of their V-15 series SAS styli. They never disappoint.

What was the Shure IV Type II? I'm not familiar with that one. Did you mean the V-15 Type II? JICO SAS styli are great. They're really the only way to go for a lot of old Shure cartridges now. Even if you do find a new-old-stock Shure stylus, there's a good chance the suspension has already or is in the process of drying up.
