He's been seriously ill for a long time (although the details of what he was ill with haven't been publicly known).

He was one of a kind, for sure.

Damn, RIP. Along with his stuff with Air Supply and Bonnie Tyler, I loved his work with The Sisters Of Mercy, their epic This Corrosion in particular.
