No news to report on this, but the summary below from a UK court case has very detailed info about the original filming, production and release plans.

    http://www.bailii.org./ew/cases/EWHC/Ch/2010/1986.html

This film sounds ready to go. Too bad it's in legal limbo.

"the film ..... had been screened to a number of the main studios, including Universal, 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, and Paramount"

"Mr Goldstein wanted to release the film in 2007, in particular for the film festival season starting with the Sundance Film Festival in January 2007."

Janie H signed off on this project in 2003 and a release was set for 2007, so let's hope that we'll see it in the future. She hinted at some live material releases soon in a recent CBS news interview.

Mr. Goldstein must be a great businessman! How not to release the movie for 44 years? May Hendrix fan will die, before they have a chance to see the RAH movie.

Many Hendrix fans have died and would die, before this movie will be released in public.

What a shame that this film has been tied up in legal limbo for so long. I hope to see it one day.

I read somewhere that Eddie Kramer has already remastered the show for cd release but it is still in limbo.

Janie hinted at some new live material recently. Hope that means the film too.

The film would be a bonus...give a big box with the audio of:

    2/17 Olympic Studios rehearsals
    2/18 Albert Hall
    2/24 Afternoon rehearsals
    2/24 Albert Hall

Think of all the money he could have made and enjoyed during the last several decades if he mastered the art of compromise.

In a few ways it's very shrewd. He'll get 50% of a major Jimi project when he doesn't have access to his record contract.

The trick was waiting for someone running the estate willing to play ball. Plus they have to wait for a time when Janie isn't busy with lawsuits or Goldstein isn't busy with lawsuits or janie isn't running down the clock of a 10 year licensing deal.

Its bloody frustrating being a Jimi Hendrix fan sometimes. I am looking forward to the 1968 Miami DVD/CD soon. Hopefully!

Very interesting article - but like others it does frustrate me. What a shame we haven't been able to get a proper release.

And yes, I did at one time have a dodgy 2cd set that I picked up at Tower Records for like $5 or something.

Yes. The film crew shot the JHE in Strasbourg, Vienna and Berlin on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of January. Probably 2-track Nagra audio. All uncirculated - we don't even have an aud tape of the two Strasbourg shows . Then there is the uncirculated pro film and multi-track audio of the 2/18 RAH show and film of the Speakeasy jam after the 2/24 show.
