Chamberlin is a supremely gifted drummer and his presence is a definite upgrade for SP. Great news!

It requires a bit of revisionism but I think you can go back now and say that Billy and Jimmy genuinely were the sound of the Pumpkins and the other two mostly made the videos look cooler. Like I said, a bit of revisionism needed because Adore is one of my favourite albums. Either way, the D'arcy everyone remembers no longer exists thanks to bad drugs and worse plastic surgery. James Iha offered more but at this point it would be rude to kick Jeff Schroeder out when he's been the only person over the past decade that Billy has been able to work with for any length of time.

While it would be nice to live in a world where a full classic reunion could work, this is the best we can hope for in this one. Regardless of who else is on stage, you can always rely on BC and JC to fuse a sublime chemistry.

Billy is taking song suggestions for the tour today (use the hashtag #PumpkinsTour):

    "William Corgan @Billy
I'm putting together the proposed set today for the SP/MANSON tour. So if you have song suggestions now's the time. But... (Pt 1 of 2)"

    "William Corgan @Billy
Be mindful that we a/ like to cover music from every SP era b/ JC is back on drums and c/ we've only got 80 min + encores. USE #PumpkinsTour"

This is going to be awesome. I'm really happy that Jimmy is back behind the kit, too bad the couldn't have talked sooner, he could have handled the drum parts on their latest album.

On the live concerts included in the SP Deluxe Editions, I thought James' and D'arcy's contributions were very visible and necessary. I understand that Billy was very controlling in the studio and preferred to work alone or with Jimmy, though the other members probably had more studio influence on at least the first two albums.

No, Siamese Dream was all BC and JC.

True sadly, Siamese Dream has little if any James and no D'Arcy. James co-wrote Mayonnaise (he was the originator of that track) and Soma on Siamese Dream, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't him playing one of the guitar parts on those tracks. Ditto for I Am One off of Gish.

Both are at least vocally present on Gish (D'Arcy on "Daydream" and James on "Bury Me").

IMHO, it's really not the Smashing Pumpkins unless Jimmy is drumming.

This warms my heart....seeing the world from behind a drumset just seems right.

Why bald? I just need to know...he wasn't going bald as far as I could tell. I know it's not music related but I've been wondering for years

He was going bald on Siamese Dreams. Rather than a comb over, he has gone the bald menacing psycho killer look. Suits him now

Seriously? Instead of discussing the rehearsal clip/the music, you want to talk about when Billy lost his hair???
    Wow...just....wow.
