I'm a big fan of Jodie, so I thought I'd start this thread.
Contact is an obvious film to mention, but I have fond memories of seeing it in the theater with my grandmother.

One that I like but didn't get great reviews is Catchfire, aka Backtrack with Dennis Hopper. (And the same thing goes for Carny with Robbie Robertson and Gary Busey.)

Anyway, Catchfire aka Backtrack is full of cameos including Bob Dylan.

It's been a while since I've seen it, so I need to watch Inside Man again.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I've watched Carnage a few times and enjoyed it. I get a kick out of Jodie and John C. Reilly.

The Accused is available on Amazon Prime, so I was watching it again recently. Glad Jodie got the honor she deserved.

Always liked Jodie. She was a great kid actress who was just as good as an adult.

Tonight I rented Anna and the King from Amazon Prime, what a rich performance from Jodie.

  7. Besides The Accused, Taxi Driver and The Silence of the Lambs... I also really enjoyed her in Freaky Friday and The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane.
Martin Sheen was so pervy in that.

It's been years since I've seen Nell. I really need to see that one again soon.

I was very happy to see her in Hotel Armenis, her first movie in five years. She is easily the best part of that movie.

I liked her better as a child actress til about Candleshoe. Her adult roles are good, but I don't think she's as appealing as when she was a kid.
One of my favorites is an ABC afterschool special called "Rookie of the Year"

Ah Jodie, I think she reached peak loveliness around the time of filming Maverick.

I've actually seen only a handful of films she's been in, but she always does a good job. As amazing as Anthony Hopkins was in The Silence of the Lambs, that film wouldn't have been what it was without Foster. They both nailed it.

Worth mentioning is her performance in Spike Lee's Inside Man (2006), a smartly done bank robbery movie with Denzel Washington and Christopher Plummer. I saw this a few years back, and thought it was a darn good 'deep cut' in the Spike Lee filmography. It definitely felt like a throwback to a '70's style crime drama, done in a low-key way. Haven't seen any more recent Jodie Foster films than that one, unfortunately.

To me, she's one of those actresses who can do drama really well, but that's it. She nearly ruined Maverick for me, she has no sense of comic timing. I would avoid her in any 'light' role. The only time I remember her being kind of 'light' was in Stealing Home with Mark Harmon

Coincidentally, I watched Silence Of The Lambs last night for the 1st time in many years. Wow, they just don't make 'em like that anymore!;)

Hmmm, I have seen that film quite a few times and never thought that. Then again, Gibson and Garner are the true stars of that flick, and they both nail it, so I never gave much thought to Foster's comic timing, to be honest. Her character was meant to be charming and full of **** at the same time, and she did it well.
