    From musictap's website:

    Joe Jackson - Night and Day - A&M - 2CD

This set features the entire original album remastered at 96k/24bit along with 6 previously unreleased demos from the session. Additionally, all five vocal tracks from the Mike's Murder soundtrack are included. Finally, there are 5 live tracks from the Night and Day tour of 1982/83.

Sounds interesting. BTW, was "Look Sharp" ever remastered?

Thanks! No credit given for who's mastering this I guess...

This is one of my favorite albums from the early 80s. Looking forward to the bonus stuff, especially the Mike's Murder tracks.

I'm glad to have the vocal tracks from Mike's Murder, and wish he'd just bite the bullet and release the entire album, as it's about the only thing of his never to appear on CD. Oh well, maybe if this deluxe edition does well, he'll get around to doing it in the near future.

This is one the one "Deluxe Edition" I've been looking forward to the most, and it seems to be getting pushed back and pushed back....

If Erik Labsen does to "Night and Day" what he did to "Look Sharp" and "I'm the Man", we're all in for a world of hurt :(

Yeah, I figured it was good. Maybe one day... My "Tom Port Special" LP sounds great though! Even if this new set sounds bad (hopefully it won't :)), I'll still get it for the extras.

This is yet another Mofi disc I need to track down. I am optomistic that the two-disc reissue won't be ruined.

I picked up the mofi on ebay last week for a reasonable price (around $30).

The seller said it was a UD2 but sent me a UD1. Boy was I angry! ;)

    Sounds wonderful.

I got the MoFi and will buy this primarily for the Mike's Murder tracks.

From my perspective, this is basically a missed opportunity...

    1) Not all b-sides from this era included
    2) An incomplete selection of Mike's Murder tracks rather than a full reissue
    3) The live tracks are from the widely available (albeit OOP) Live 1980/86 album

I'll also be buying it primarily for the demos and Murder tracks, but I don't really feel like I'm getting a lot of value for my dollar in this case.

What are the Mike's Murder tracks? I'm not a Joe Jackson afficianado, but I really love "Night & Day" and "Look Sharp".

Mike's Murder was a mid-80s soundtrack from a movie that hardly saw any screen time in release. I think the soundtrack was released around the same time as Body & Soul, and has a similar feel IMO musically. I liked the mood captured by the instrumentals, think the vocal tracks are very catchy and would recommend it if you liked Body & Soul or even Night & Day. Not much on there like Look Sharp, however.

    Todd,

Thanks for the information. I look forward to checking out those tracks when the deluxe edition comes out.

What did he do wrong to "Look Sharp!"? (It is very loud, however; is that the problem?)

Lucky dog. I probably looked at that one and ruled it out as I'm just collecting UDIs.

Actually the scan of the back cover was a UD1 but of course the disc doesn't always match the sleeve. In this case it did.

I wanted it either way :)

  24. Wouldnt it be nice to have a multichannel edition of "Night and Day" and "Body and Soul"?

Okay folks, go ahead and cost me some money by answering this question. What's wrong with my redbook CD that is improved upon by the MoFi?

    Regards,
