This reminds me of Paul McCartney's dilemma when he considered, over the years, to purchase ownership of the songs he wrote as a Beatle.
The songs he and John created !!!

As the purchase price increased by the millions.

(Before and After Michael Jackson snuck in to buy them...)

He plays an original CCR amp in the 1997 concert DVD.

I recall him saying once that he gave away one of his CCR guitars to a kid for whatever reason. Not sure if it's THIS guitar.

He should have saved the money and spent it on a better wig.

More like 100 to 30 for me. Happy it made him happy. And my kind of wife. Good of her.

I always wanted a JohnFogarty, Paul McCartney and Chuck Berry super group. They could call themselves The Travelin' (Band, I) Will Berry's

A Fogerty interview isn't complete without mention of all the pain he's been through.

I've bought guitars from Norm Harris in the 70's/80's and Gary Dick,90's, and wished I'd have kept them. They are worth more now than what I payed but I just miss them as instruments. 40 G would have ticked me off to buy back a guitar that I had helped create that price for.

Or a discussion of how Doug, Stu, and Tom screwed him over. I'm surprised he didn't find a way to blame them for the fact he gave away the guitar in the first place.

I don't think it's surprising he didn't want to pay $40k for a guitar that was worth $40k because it once belonged to him. That said, the guitar was given away, and them's the breaks.

But what's a little more telling is that Fogerty talks of putting the pieces of life back together in the early '90s...that's a long long time...

John Fogerty doesn't wear a hairpiece, and, how many concerts would he have to play to make $40,000?

If he's wearing a wig, he even wears it while he's jogging, which seems unlikely. Bad dye job, yes. But wig, probably not.

I doubt it. If anything, it seems more likely it would be the other way around, that the seller might be more willing to go down in price if he knew the guitar was being purchased for Fogerty.

Didn't know there was a classic guitar shop in Loveland. Going to have to check that out.

All I remember was Mike's Music in Clifton, which Adrian Belew liked to stop in there quite a bit.

    "John Fogerty sells just-acquired Guitar

John Fogerty, the former lead singer of Creedence Clearwater Revival, announced that he is selling the classic guitar that his wife had just acquired for him. "I just can't touch it," he told a reporter, "knowing that someone from that old band [Creedence] could have touched it." Fogerty, who has been engaged in a prolonged legal battle with his ex-bandmates, said it was apparent that "The guitar has a voodoo curse on it. It won't stay in tune for more than a half hour. The thought that one of those people could have touched it just causes me sleepless nights, and an eruption of Crohn's Disease. There's so much agony in that guitar it just rubs off on my hands." In an unrelated story, Fogerty also stated that he has started sleeping on his living room couch.

  23. Serious part: Happy that John has that guitar and such a loving wife.

    Joke part:

New Fogerty songs written on the old ACME:

    Fortune Spent

Green River of Money (needed to buy Ric)

    Sweet Riffmaker

Have You Ever Seen the Ric?

    Who'll Buy the Ric?

I'm thinking that after years of asking 40k for it and nobody biting, his wife may have come in around 30 something and they took it.

These "instrument reunion" stories always make me a little verklempt, and the only equipment I know how to play is the radio.

I could get all cynical about ego and greed and all that show biz crap, but in the end, it's still the music that matters - a guy who created a lot of work I love has recovered the instrument he used to create it.

    And that's groovy.
