Dreadful quad mix (surround yourself in mono). "Walls and Bridges" is better.

You were reading my mind. ;) I got the RSD vinyl to replace my old scratched up copy + I have the CD's = I think I'm likely done with this particular album.

    I think.

Odd that there would've been a quad mix in Lennon's lifetime, since he was all about going "back to mono".

Hmmmmmm....Yes I think I will be pulling the trigger on that one. I am skeptical of yet another hi-fi digital format, but I will give it a try. It is truly unnecessary though...they already have SACD and DVD-A which were fantastic.

I'm disappointed with this disc. I guess I got my hopes up too much - the disc uses the 2010 remaster, but sounds no better than the CD version to me.

I saw this ad on Facebook for the IMAGINE Blu-ray Audio Disc:

    "Original stereo flat master tapes."

    Hmm.

I have never seen an SACD or a DVD-Audio of Imagine, where did you buy yours?

You misunderstood me. What I was saying was that there is no need for another HI-FI digital format in general. We already have the SACD and DVD-A formats which accomplish the same exact thing as Blu-Ray audio. Indeed there was no SACD or DVD-A of imagine ever released.

I ordered this title last week, I have the redbook Cd, I am curious to find out how this sounds. I have a bunch of the other Blu Ray audio titles. Exile, Richie, Nirvana, Beck.
Beck sounds awesome. The only 5.1. The others ...... I am not so impressed with.

The IMAGINE Blu-ray Audio Disc sounds just plain weird to my ears. Tried all three audio options as well as different settings on my receiver and the volume level in individual speakers seemed to jump every once in a while ... I couldn't figure out what was going on. Odd.

The only REAL discrete quad mix is on the US quad eight-track tape. The vinyl quad LP's a pretty much pseudo quad mono. The discrete quad mix was supervised by George Harrison of all people.

These were done at the request of EMI and Capitol (for the 20 people who were buying quad.)

Strange - I didn't have any issues with the volume.
