    John Lennon (Music Icons series)
"The newest stamp in the Music Icons series honors singer and songwriter John Lennon (1940–1980), a rock ’n’ roll hero successful both as a founding member of the Beatles and as a solo artist."

Can't wait for the first day cover ceremony to see Paul and Ringo play together.

Photo looks circa 1974 - would have been better to use the iconic photo taken for The White Album

BUT 1968 would have before he was living in the USA. The photo should reflect the time, such as 1974, when he was living here. So I agree with this one.

I agree. There will be enough complaints that he wasn't a US citizen, etc.

I wonder what John would have thought about this?

Should have used the Gruen pic of him next to the Statue of Liberty! But cool nonetheless

The "USA forever" sounds like a rah rah USA statement, but in fact it is a forever stamp...you can buy it now and if the price of postage goes up (which it certainly will) you can use it 20 years from now and it will still be good for 1st class letter.

Looks like I will be buying some stamps that I will not be using.

  21. I'm not a Yoko-basher, but I still got a chuckle out of the fact that she doesn't get her own stamp. The stamp series says it is about their marriage, yet only John gets the perforations. Weird, and a bit of a slight toward Yoko.

Don't they usually do, like, four pics in a set? They should have:
    1964 [moptop]
1968 [White Album], or maybe 1967 [Pepper]
1974 [living in the USA, circa Walls & Bridges] or maybe 1971 [circa Imagine]
1980 [living in the USA, circa Double Fantasy]

I noticed that, too. The pictures of John are even off centered in order to crop her out. John definitely would NOT have like that.
