I just took delivery of this two days ago. Two discs in, so far.

I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

He definitely isn’t a “ranking” musician, like, not to be found in anyone’s Top Ten lists, but he seems to be very creative in terms of sounds. I believe he once said something like “if you can make the same sound more than once that’s music.” He is GREAT if that’s the definition one goes by...

very disturbing photo indeed , first i thought this was a photoshop job to mock him , i still cannot believe this .
maybe its cortisone but on the photo he looks fat all over the body , not just his face , just obese .
and he looks so sad as well .

I read an interview somewhere around the time of the 9 album and one of the band members commented that a lot of the sounds and rhythms on that album came from John experimenting at home.

Yeah - wouldn't be surprised if he was responsible for some of the nonverbal sounds. Esp in early-PiL, where nobody was a conventional virtuoso. Insect guitar, stabs of synth and banging a drum are simple to do - you just need to know what to do with those sounds. I've been listening to a lot of Pistols and PiL lately, and the most vivid thing, I think, is his smarts. He may be a pompous jerk, etc, etc - but he's razor sharp.
