John Mayer Drops New Song "Love on the Weekend", Announces Album "The Search for Everything" (2017)

Some very nice guitar work. Just wish he wrote better lyrics. This is so trite.

Wow that sucks. I thought Bob Ludwig mastered most of Mayer's discography. I wonder why the DR is so bad?

 

I think the DR reflects his/his team's possible insecurity in trying to rejoin the mainstream with this release after Born and Paradise (which I loved).

It's a drag the vinyl is a 2 disc, 3 song a side deal. Personally, I find those make it difficult for me to get into the flow of the album.
The existing 8 tracks add up to 30 mins. Are the remaining 4 tracks that long? Only 1 of the existing 8 is over 4 mins.

I hope the vinyl is leaps and bounds better. The last album was cut by Chris Bellman.

 

That's a nice song. It makes me feel relaxed after a long day. I'm going to put on my slippers, sit in my reclining chair with a glass of chardonnay and listen to John Mayer at a moderate volume. Party time!

 

First listen, I'm really impressed, one of my favorites of the year so far.

 

Thanks. So no reason why this couldn't have been just one disc, apart from money obviously.

 

He's an enigma for sure. Supremely talented guitarist who rarely shows it off on his recordings. That being said, his songs are a not all that guilty pleasure for me. Hell, my wife gives me grief for it (teasingly) but I don't care.

 

These 4 sided, 45 minute lps are gonna put a damper on the vinyl resurgence.

 

It's not like Amazon hasn't had incorrect product information in the past. I seem to recall that his last album was originally listed as a double-LP when it was announced; when it was released it was a single LP.

Played this on the way work this morning.. standout track for me was "In The Blood" ...on one listen I thought it brilliant...time will tell..

Listened a couple times so far, really enjoying it. Glad he's got the Trio back together, now if they would just tour as only the Trio in non-arena settings...

 

"Helpless" is fantastic. Really enjoying this album.

 

Fine album. I could have done with fewer ballads and more songs like Helpless and Still Feel Like Your Man though. Not that the ballads aren't fine songs, it is just a personal preference.

 

Any other thoughts on this?
