Just read on FB that the great drummer Jon Hiseman is sadly to leave us soon.

"Jon Hiseman has moved to hospice, not receiving treatment or food anymore. He's in a peaceful state and gradually drifting away. Jon will pass peacefully."

Sad news, but I already thought he'd passed years ago, or maybe I was thinking of Heckstall-Smith.

Awesome drummer. His work with Colosseum II was one of the first times a drummer truly blew me away as a kid. Those albums are still in regular rotation at my place and I still focus on his playing.

    I wish him peace.

Had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Jon Hiseman in Zlin, Czech Republic back around 2000 if I recall. Prior to this meeting I had recorded from Czech TV Jon's performance with the Georgie Fame Quartet in Prague in 1967. I gave him a copy and he e-mailed me later saying he really enjoyed it. Sad news.

I had the good fortune to see Colosseum II in late 1977, and had a CII-day last weekend because I just felt like it.
I was not aware of his illness and diagnosis.
He will live-on in the memory and and in his music.

Awful news, a true legend in the music world. I was lucky enough to see him with Tempest at the Whisky a go-go with Holdsworth........

Very, very sad at this news. I had the great pleasure of working with Jon on the design/artwork of his official biography, Playing The Band. We were in daily phone contact for almost a year. What a truly wonderful and gracious man.

Man, didn't see this news coming. Just got the JCM CD in the mail from
the UK a couple of weeks ago. I loved Colosseum; my favourite band that
I never got to see live. Jon's book is essential reading for any music fan.

A journalist friend responded to my RIP post on FB saying she can't find any official confirmation of Jon's passing. Could it be that the great man is still alive?

There has been no official announcement yet and all the above messages, sincere though they are, appear to be rather premature and therefore not really appropriate.
