Perhaps, I cannot say I know first hand of course. However, your statement stands in direct contrast to what I've read and seen via documentaries. What I read was there was a single incident when they over did it and were never quite the same afterwards. With Syd, it was over the course of a single weekend when he went from the bright young man everyone loved to that lost look we've all seen...two black holes in the sky.

That said, you may very well be right, it's just not what I was led to believe.

    Bogus. LSD won't do that.

Garland was a Seconal girl... and a Demerol girl... and a Benzedrine girl... and a Nembutal girl... and a Dexamyl girl...

For a poor thing that was so drugged ****ed toward the end, she sure could still sing a tune.

"The first brick the drag king threw
To draw blood from the boys in blue
Said "Here lies Judy Garland" on it
    It flew through historic air
    Even Taylor Mead was there
And Allen Ginsberg wrote a sonnet

    One day after the funeral
    Stones flew over the Stonewall
    Judy Garland
    Halfway through her tell-all memoirs
Who flew up into the stars?
    Judy Garland
    Judy Garland set us free

We tried to drive to Woodstock but
Our little blue bug couldn't cut
Through that last hundred miles of traffic
Love still dared not to speak
    In l'année érotique
"Je t'aime" was banned as pornographic

So put those feather boas on
    Drink too much wine
    And celebrate the revolution
    Of '69

Cause life-sized life never was enough
    Who called reality's bluff?
    Judy Garland
Patron saint, or victim of love?
Let's try "none of the above"
    Judy Garland
    Judy Garland set us free

    Some say its a coincidence
    No relation
As if she didn't die for us
    Her love nation

    Halfway through 1969
    Who joined Heaven's conga line?
    Judy Garland
Sick and tired of being alive
She flew back to Rigel V
    Judy Garland

    Judy Garland set us free
    Judy Garland set us free
    Judy Garland set us free
    So be free with me
    Judy Garland set us free
    Judy Garland set us free
    Judy Garland set us free
    So be free with me"

I don’t want to derail the thread, so I’ll just leave it here. Roger (Syd) Barrett had a psychological problem that drugs may have exacerbated, but was not the cause. Same with Brian Wilson in the 60’s. Millions of people have tried LSD and they aren’t running around with black holes for eyes.

It's sad people forget she was owned by the system just a product the studio owned. I dont think any of us could imagine what that was like especially back then and being a woman and starting at such a young age . RIP

Agree with everything you've stated. The documentaries I've seen suggest there was also a type of overdose involved. What's for certain is many people that knew Syd said he changed dramatically over the course of a weekend. Photos before and after are rather dramatic.

No one knows for sure what he took. Whatever it was, his appearance and demeanor, according to those that knew him, changed dramatically and did so practically overnight.

I once visited the little mews cottage where she died when I was over there on holiday. It sort of gave me the creeps, and since it was an extremely dark and overcast summer day, it only added to the gloomy feeling while I was there.

There's an interesting anecdote in that PBS documentary.
Later in her life Judy is stuck in her New York apartment afraid of her boyfriend/husband?
She calls Tony Bennet and tells him her fears.
Tony calls Frank Sinatra and he calls the NYPD who then swarm over to her apartment..... something like that.

When naming the greatest American vocalists Jerry Lee Lewis always mentioned her name along with
Al Jolson, Jimmy Rogers, Hank senior, and Jerry Lee! Jerry kind of took possession of 'Somewhere' for a few years
    back in the eighties.
