BTW, Dick Denney was the designer of the AC30.

I didn't say Dennings, did I? That probably would've made more sense than Jennings, I guess. :D

Penney was his name... J.T. Penney. ;)

"Cole Trickle was his name... He designed faucets."

I'm a little tired this morning.... You'll have to forgive me... I get like this when I'm tired (or half in the bag :D ).

I just made a deal on a Pair of Wharfedale W90's that were on eBay!

[IMG] Tiny, I know, but I could not link the larger photos.
[IMG] Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom
Vintage pair of Wharfedale W-90 speakers in their original wood cabinet, in absolutely beautiful condition. Each cabinet contains 6 speakers... two 12.5" woofers, two 5" midrange, and two 3" dome tweeters. Chalk code on the woofers is 4WNA121/6.

Although Wharfedale's are a UK company. I believe that these and my W70's, were manufactured in USA, in NJ I think.

As much, as I like the W70's, Your descriptive terms with regard to the W90's natural vintage sound, have me waiting eagerly to here these through the tube amplifiers, both new and vintage.

    Any thoughts on these?

The ones that I am familiar with do, non-polarized, that is.

Usually, electrolytic caps are used in power supplies and applications that require a cap that will store a large amount of power, more inexpensively that a non-polarized cap.

I used to rock a pair of W60s for my second system. You are right - not the most "accurate" of speakers but never, ever offensive. They sounded great - very British - with a Rotel receiver.

I recapped mine with some Russkie oil caps (if I remember correctly) and the sound didn't change _that_ dramatically. ie - the speakers didn't lose any of their pleasing character.
