I heard a track on Jazz FM yesterday (they had an exclusive). It sounded very 'Epic'.
Apparently Fists of Fury is names after his favourite film.

Ye gods I wish Kamasi would reign in the length of his output at some point, the official link on his site has this for pre-order for £48. For an album

Bleeps price is the best I have seen so far

The more I play it, the more I Love 'Fists of Fury'!
Is it Martin Luther King on it? "We will no longer ask for justice, instead we will take our retribution"

Loved the Epic, but Harmony wasn´t up to it´s predecesor. Hope he gets back. The Epic was a hurricane of fresh air and innovation. That the new album is a long, double record is a good sign. Kamasi seems to be a long distance runner rather than a sprinter

Loved Harmony- looking forward to a double LP. Epic being 3 LP's was a bit too much for me ....Two LP's should be enough time to tell the tale imo.

I heard him for the first time a couple of months ago on WXPN out of Philly. I'm not well versed in jazz, but I loved what I heard. Looking forward to this.

Yeah I'm definitely in. I did finish The Epic once in one sitting, otherwise I usually take it one volume at a time. But whatever works. His music is too good to miss

He is touring in October 2018. I'm working the Portland show at the Crystal Ballroom. May have to be on the floor.

I just read a rave review in the latest edition of Uncut. Never heard of him but I had a listen to some of The Epic on YouTube and it sounds excellent. Always good to come accross someone new to the ears.

I read in the thread about sound quality/mastering etc, but is there any recommendations for the vinyl edition of The Epic?

Street Fighter Mas is epic, very 70’s and reminiscent of David Axelrod.

Yes, don't question. I lost my composure for a minute there. Kamasi is God. Coltrane for a new gene3ration.

I saw him with choir and orchestra at The Royal Albert Hall a coupla years back.
It was thrillingly magnificent, and I cried tears of joy in places.

Looking forward to the new album. Interesting that he also contributed to the new Florence + The Machine album (Quote from the New York Times):

...the saxophonist Kamasi Washington did arrangements for French horn, tuba, flute and bass clarinet.

Mr. Washington, who also plays on the album, signed on quickly — he had ideas the moment he heard the demos. “The thing for me was trying to add without taking away what she had already put in there,” he said. He called Ms. Welch a kindred spirit, comparing her to another of his collaborators, Kendrick Lamar, in the purity of her love for music and her freedom to follow where the tune goes in the studio. “It was really cool, every time we’d finish recording, we’d go in the room and she’d have all new vocal parts that she’d created while we were recording the horn parts,” he said.
