I thought of Bergman from the other thread but I haven't seen a picture of him since Fanny and Alexander. For Ingmar's sake I hope that it is not him, but I guess time does a number in all of us. :D

Upon closer inspection looks like him.... CONGRATS Gardo.

Wow...Bergman was born June 14 1918...that makes him 85 1/2. No wonder. If it is him he looks good actually.

Gardo must have it right, gotta be the great Bergman! I think he was around 82 when that photo Ken is using was taken....

    Hej då, Ingmar!

Well, since the public demanded it. This should be a fairly easy one. I will even start with a clue. This director did not produce any 3D movies. ;)

Bob is correct, it is Raoul Walsh, director of:

    Regeneration
The Thief of Bagdad (Fairbanks silent version)
    Sadie Thompson
    The Roaring Twenties
    They Drive by Night
    The Strawberry Blonde
    High Sierra
    Gentleman Jim
They Died with Their Boots On
    Objective, Burma!
    Pursued
    White Heat
The Enforcer (took over the film at H. Bogart's request when Bretaigne Windust fell ill. Insisted that Windust be given full credit)
    Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N.

    ...among many others.

I love Walsh's "Colorado Territory," a western re-make of "High Sierra" with Joel McCrea and Virginia Mayo. Nice outdoor photography.

Walsh was a fine director! WHITE HEAT is probably my favorite, it seems to sum up Cagney the actor so well.

Sorry I got home so late....this one WAS easy!:D

Actually, playing at the 3-D festival this month:

    http://www.bigscreenclassics.com/3days3d.htm

    GUN FURY
    Directed by Raoul Walsh
    Starring Rock Hudson, Donna Reed,
    Philip Carey, Lee Marvin

Hudson and Reed are newlyweds traveling to the West. Carey, a psychotic outlaw, kidnaps Reed. Hudson is then forced to pursue the gang. Hudson tries to maintain his composure but ends up becoming just as crazed as Carey. Terrific outdoor 3-D photography is one of the highlights of this action-filled western tale directed by Raoul Walsh (White Heat). Shown in a new studio print courtesy of Columbia Pictures. 1953, color, 83 minutes

Whoops! I guess it can't be Raoul Walsh, then. I wonder who it is?

Just kidding. My bad. I guess he really trusted his cinematographer on that one. :)

I was thinking, a lot of my faves wore eye patches; I think Nick Ray, Samuel Fuller, I've seen in pictures with eye patches. John Ford as well got it in the eye during WWII...

Probably the most famous 3-D film - HOUSE OF WAX - was directed by Andre de Toth, who only had one good eye!

Actually, Ford's wounds in WWII did not include an eye injury. He suffered from light sensitivity and adoped the eyepatch to help cut down on brightness. Notice that he often wore it *over* his glasses!

This one may not be so easy. Let the guessing game begin...
