I have a fair few, but that beats my collection easily. Which is your favourite?

I'm still assessing but I have to say after only a few spins the new SACD by MFSL has a special aspect to it. However I only recently got the older Japanese version 35DP 62 and was actually surprised at how good that sounded I'll offset that by saying the speed issue messes with my head I think I can hear it. Can I?

Prior to that my preference was for the 2013 versions either the Mono or the HD Tracks version although that's complicated as I've upgraded my disc spinner this year and my Oppo can't beat my Esoteric-must try to convert the download to disc just for fun and spin it through the Esoteric.

Prior to that for many years I really liked the Japanese Mastersound version.

My very recent analysis suggested it may be a bit complicated with a degree of trade off but I've said before at some stage I hope to maybe do an in depth analysis of all of them.

A casualty sadly was I was an early adopter of SACD and had the original KOB of that. Stupidly I bailed out of SACD and sold off my discs including a few that are really quite expensive/difficult to trace these days.

  9. I have no desire to "beat" anybody's collection. I have the new MFSL SACD, I'm good for Kind Of Blue.

That's quite the collection! I can't beat that. I only have my original Japan-for-US Columbia CD, but I'm pretty happy with that!

Are you sure your analogue will beat a good digital set up? :)

Anyway I didn't mean it to be a pissing contest, thought it was a bit of fun and it is an area for debate recently with the MFSL SACD release.

My goal is two fold I like to hear the best versions of recordings and I like to collect.

Reminds me a bit of a 'who has the longest .... ' comparison. Men.... (Don't worry, I myself am guilty of these practises sometimes, my .... can be very long.)

No; have a few versions including the 40th box set but still like this for sentimental reasons, off-speed "A-side", 70s photo on the cover and all!!

I do have the '97 remaster cd, the 2003 surround SACD, the 50Ann. boxset with blue vinyl, which sounds not too bad at all and is, of course the best looking of all, and on the way here is the new MoFi SACD. I think I will keep it at that. :tiphat:

I love this album too, and felt a bit weird having just four copies of it! :D

    I have four formats though.

I'm interested in your different SACD's-I thought I had the original Sony SACD but when I think about it after looking at these I think it might have been IASW and I had So What on the original Sony sampler.

Be interested to hear about these SACD's (I see the Blue Spec CD and MFSL SACD both of which I own) and how you rate them.
