What, I wonder is the Zappa Band.
Is that Dweezil's often name-changing project, the one we mostly call Zappa Plays Zappa?
    Or something else entirely?

King Crimson will be touring for six weeks this summer in June and early July together with the Zappa band in the USA and Canada. The full list of dates is yet to be confirmed, but today does see the announcement of a concert at The Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia on June 30th.

Tickets will on sale to the general public on Saturday, but as usual, we will be emailing 1000 Club members and DGM subscribers with details of our own Royal Package seats.

Yeah my guess is that it would be the Hologram thing. Maybe without the Hologram?

Wolf Trap is a great place to see a show. Hope I can land some tickets for this tour.

I guess my life is pretty simple, these days.....I saw King Crimson and the Stones last year, both were phenomenal, and I am already plotting road trips to see both of them again this year. I'm not going to be so glib as to say both those 2019 shows were in my top 5 all-time concerts ever, but they both were phenomenally good, head and shoulders above almost everything else that I saw last year musically, in terms of live shows. So, hopefully one date of each, even if I have to travel and do a couple of road trips. Definitely need more! I still can't get Fripp's solo from "Easy Money" out of my mind -- I don't remember the notes or particular lines, but I remember the feel and the vibe, he took it in this weird, melancholy Middle Eastern direction I wasn't expecting, and he had the whole theater just riveted.

I was just trying to figure it out. Looks like the hologram band without the hologram. I'll be at the Wolf Trap show.

From Mike Keneally in November: "there will be more gigs with the Zappa band (me, Scott Thunes, Ray White, Robert Martin and Joe Travers) next year."
Mike and RF played together on past G3 gigs, yes?

  11. I hope they'll come over to Europe again as well, I'll be once again first in line for tickets.

I'm excited that this show is coming to Canada. I know Jakko Jakszyk expressed admiration for Dweezil Zappa's show last year where his band was playing Hot Rats in its entirety so it's a surprise but fitting that the "other" Zappa Band working directly with the Family Trust is going to (open? co-headline?) tour with KC

Wonder if Bill Rieflin is going to be playing on the back line again this year?

I don't even hate Ahmet, but God is he irritating to watch on stage.

With Joe Travers in the Zappa band, that creates a 2-degree separation between Crimso and Duran Duran. (Wholly un-topical, but I just enjoyed putting that across.)

I suppose that's more likely than the Grandmothers of Invention.

The first date announced is an outdoor one, so maybe they'll come back for round two at Budweiser Stage?

If it’s with an opening act, I am assuming you are correct.
I did the celebration package last time but don’t think I can afford it this time.

I blew off the last several tours but they've been playing "Lizard",
so that's a great selling point. Maybe they'll do "Pictures of a City".

I'd LOVE it if Robert pulled out some Giles&Giles too, but we really need Pete there.
