Can't go wrong with any set. Larks has a quite a bit of lo-fidelity live shows, but as someone who has listened to quite a few "bad" bootlegs through the years, I didn't mind it. Great set overall imo and that's not a bad price. Well worth it. I'd say you are going to end up getting them anyway at some point. Lol. I have no complaints with any of the boxes.

  2. Just this month I've gathered The Collectable KC Vol. 1 and 2 cd, and the "Neil and Jack and Me" DVD, all for around $25. CKC Vol. 1 is superb in my view, Vol. 2 has the smoking show from Philly 82' with Bath 81' ymmv, but I enjoy that as well, the poor sound to me is strangely perhaps, something I'm good with after reading about the gig itself. The sound lends to the history.

I am not done getting the goods on Crimson, they have been in my life since I discovered Fripp's 'Exposure' album in 79'. I was 14 years old.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Nightwatch. Peak performance by the strongest lineup. If the 80s band interests you try Munich or Philadelphia 82. Skip Absent Lovers. Belew sounds good but Fripp is halfway out the door.

  4. The Nightwatch is next on my list... Can't wait for that one to arrive!

Do NOT skip Absent Lovers. Dunno what to make of the Fripp comment, but Bruford is on fire throughout the performance, and Belew is not just good, he's PSYCHOTIC.

Don't see much, if any, mention of Heavy ConstruKction in this thread. They didn't stop being King Crimson after Bruford and Levin left. This is a solid package, 2 discs of exemplary live performance, and a third disc with otherworldly remixes. This 2000-03 band was great at improvs, and there's a bunch on HC.

Overall I really don't care for live albums (I do enjoy live music in person), and I haven't read the thread yet but Jeebus Christmas King Crimson live recordings are amazing.

  18. I was mainly a studio albums guy until I got my hands on the live stuff. I got hooked after hearing Mainz and Asbury. I've been mainlining everything live Crimson ever since.

I believe Court was the one box that really, and truly was limited.

  22. Just scored a mint copy of the "Epitaph" set! My KC Library is growing fast!

I listened to the KC Collectable Live Vol. 3 this morning. Another great listening experience.

  23. Bruford is phenomenal on Absent Lovers.

Heads up for those who didn't buy Starless - KC have released three shows for download which were on that box of the European Tour in Spring 74.

A trio of gigs from '74

These are Besancon (25th March), Dieburg (28th March) and Gottingen (2nd April)

Sir, self if I don't know the third one on your list, the two first one are really for me the top of the Wetton era.
    Thanks.
This was for me at my taste what I like the most with their first incarnation
