Chacha the bad influence strikes again! :righton: I definitely enjoy the stereo at least as much as the mono; it's good to have both since they're really different experiences.

Yeah! I bet Korky the Kat was a Kinks fan. I know Desperate Dan is!

Yeah, my Sandoval double cd sounds better than the vinyl in this rare case. Not that the vinyl is bad, but it isn't spectacular.

So was it confirmed that The Kinks record store day EPs are analogue?

And do we know the track listings for each of the three?

All three Kinks RSD releases for 2015 are cut by Kevin Gray and pressed at United.. just in case anyone is on the fence about getting them.

Guess that's good and bad. Of course the bad is that United sucks rope

    What's the issue with United?

United pressings tend to be on the noisy side, though I've gotten lucky with a few of them.

Where do I start. Noisy, off center, warped and scuffed pressings. I've had no luck with them

I've had my issues with United too.. Heck.. the Elvis 78 of My Happiness has my needle riding like a rollercoaster. The disc is wedge shaped..

But... my 3 Kinks discs today played perfect with virtually no noise and nice centered pressings..

Just got back and playing the EPs. They're pressed well. The mastering is really Polite. These things should sound rude in my book. All a matter of taste of course. These are really smooooth. The tapes are fifty years old of course.

Wow. I bought them today but haven't spun them yet . Are you disappointed with the smoothness?

A bit. But I played a gig today so my ears are hardly fresh. They sound good - I would like them just a bit more raw on first listen

I thought the sound of the Kinks EPs were balanced. I agree with chacha that they are not as forward as I was hoping they would be but I find the sound very good to my ears overall for Kinks Standards.

I really loved this RSD EP. "I Gotta Move" is my favorite track on this. So happy to have this one.

I thought that "I Gotta Move" sounded considerably better than the other tracks SQ wise.

Yeah, it often seems the case that B sides sound better - maybe it's cause the tapes get used less? I was playing a Supremes GH recently and noticed the obscure tunes sounded much better than the big hits. Me thinks cause the tapes are less worn but who knows.

The new EPs do sound smooth or as smooth as these recordings are ever going sound. I don't think much of the oomph was lost either. Once again Kevin Gray did an excellent job cutting these records. The 50th anniversary reissues should sound half as good as these EPs.

I love 'em, but would have liked a bit more edge. But what the hell. I'm going to spin them again right now.

I'm really enjoying the 7" cuts by Kevin. They sound better the higher the volume. Maybe us Kinks Fans are going to have a good June.
