It should... A severely unsung kink klassic. Really looking forward to the next batch. KK and F2F are peerless. Kevin Gray is the best!
I prefer the mono Village Green, but I like that the stereo has extra elements like the acoustic guitar on "Do You Remember Walter" (which is one of my favorite songs of all time). For me it's like the White Album, both mixes are essential. I don't know that I have a preference for Something Else, as I've only listened to the mono once. These two and Arthur are so good that I'd like to own both mixes of all three.
With the Deluxes, this is possible. Arthur is the only time (so far) where I find the stereo superior to the mono. In mono, the mixes seem to get congested at times and have a lot going on, where the stereo lends itself nicely.
I was talking about vinyl. I know that all the mixes are available digitally with outtakes and such. I like the mono mix of Arthur, but I agree that the stereo is better.
I just looked at Andrew's tweet and the tape box for Arthur says mono master on it. I hope at least Village Green and Arthur are going to be 2 LP sets with both versions, but I'm not holding my breath.
I just had a thought: does anyone else think that the Kwyet Kinks and Dedicated Kinks EPs will be reissued for RSD Black Friday?
I asked Andrew on Twitter if there were going to be stereo erosions, he just replied saying not yet, but he's sure they'll get to it later.
I'd love a stereo version of Arthur, for sure. The others aren't crucial. Who's doing the mastering on those EPs?
Does anyone have any theories as to why Arthur is mono? I like the monos of Something Else and Village Green, but not Arthur. The mono gets too congested from all the instrumentation at times. So far, it's the only time I prefer a stereo mix to a dedicated mono mix.
I agree about Arthur, except for the title track which sounds punchier in mono. I really dislike "Victoria" in mono as the great lead guitar parts cancel each other out.
Yeah, the title track doesn't sound bad in mono. "Princess Marina" sounds okay, too. I think the second lead guitar part in "Victoria" is there, just mixed really, really low.
Do we know for sure that it is? Wasn't the recent UK reissue stereo, despite all the others being mono?
Yes the uk stopped at Arthur so far and it was in stereo. It sounds good.my guess a us version will be stereo.
Sandoval posted a picture of the mono master tape box for Arthur at Kevin Gray's studio. The first round of US reissues are all analog and all mono from the Pye master tapes. He said they would get to the stereos next.
