As a collector, it's worth it for the German logo alone. I'd buy it if I saw it cheap in a used shop.

But the remaster is still the way to go.

I like the WG Atomic Mercury best here. The remaster is OK!

I've not heard remaster yet,so for me not possible to say which version is better. This WG cd has nice sound as well.
My personal experience with remasters for other hard & heavy bands is strongly negative.

I really like that yellow design. I find it excellent. I only own one like that which is a Giorgio Moroder compilation album (From here to eternity...and back).

According to the information confirmed by the seller, this is the one being sent to me:

I had all the originals and replaced them with the remasters. Now I want to replace most of the remasters with the originals. However the Kiss remasters are excellent so wouldn't bother. I remember Alive having some horrible sounds on the original
There are also the latest Japanese mini LP remasters. Does anyone own these and how do they compare?

I just picked up the WG Atomic Lick it Up in its original smooth case today from FYE for $6.99. I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful NM cd inside. With some leftover store credit, it wound up costing me $2.00.

This is THE one to listen to. Forget the remasters. I bought them all and wound up trying to get back all my original pressings. Turn this mother up real LOUD!!

I paid $7.97 (ship. inc.) on Amazon. Haven't received it yet but I hope is in good shape. Though I used to be an all-remasters supporter now I prefer the original pressings. They're better.

If anyone listens to any advice I ever give in my lifetime, it's this: If you want the BEST sounding Kiss cds, bar none, look for the P33C 1st Japanese pressings. I have everyone from Kiss (1973) through Creatures of the Night (1982). A painstakingly assembled collection and not cheap, mind you -- but without a doubt, the finest digital versions. Get 'em all!

I bought that German one with the yellow design on the disc for one reason alone -- Lick It Up on CASABLANCA! Weird to see that!

I listened to the whole CD today for the first time in decades. I think I enjoyed it more today than ever, Paul Stanley being The Breeze notwithstanding! I was so inspired that I went to the used CD store and picked up a WG of Crazy Nights for 5 bucks! I've never listened to that one before, so I'm looking forward to it.

Here in Mexico, the last KISS album issued with the Casablanca label was "Animalize" (and later the re-issue of "KISS Killers" entitled "Rocanroleando Toda la Noche" (Rock And Roll All Nite).

Well, if you want white noise/distortion on Hotter Than Hell, Alive! and Alive II, be my guest, but I'll stick with the remasters on those three at any rate!

How's the non-remastered version of Destroyer?
Is the remaster really an upgrade?

I trust you, it's just that I can't afford japanese editions. That's why I asked if it could be a good idea to search for the un-remastered edition. :)

Then seek out an unremastered Destroyer, pressed in West Germany if possible. It runs a close second (I have a/b'd them, as well as the remaster).

Check the 'net. I found my P33C Destroyer from a Japanese seller for $7.00 in NM condition. Miracles do happen....

There's a digital click between Detroit Rock City and King Of The Nighttime World on the un-remaster and it's really annoying. I like the remaster.

How does the remastering compare on the Universal Japanese MLPS reissues to the 1996 issues?

I used to think the originals were warmer and more natural sounding, but as my system got better I started to notice that the originals just sounded muddier and now prefer the remasters all the way, in fact the recent SHM mini-vinyls sound incredible. It's a pity that Killers is still left out of any remastering program...
