    Hard to answer the question.

I think however that Kraftwerk's direct and indirect influences on other people's music might be easier to spot.

I love this clip. Imagine being a kid in the UK and only exposed to crap pop and boring prog and seeing that, it is the future.

That attitude is what leads to having problems playing in Ab major. ;)

    Haha re that requiring research

Is his next project going to be to an extensive research project to discover whether there's any blues or country influence in the Stones' music?

This thread is very good for exploring YouTube with so many fine video clips from Kraftwerk :)

Here a great one from a French tv show (1978):

Days ago, this thread provided some thoughtful conversation about the influence of both bands in question. Very good stuff, that.

The Beatles' legacy is considerable, their legend is cemented, they need no defense. Is it insecurity that causes many of their fans to defend them obsessively with insults, or just arrogance?

Isn't this a Beatles thread, too?

    Yes, or No?

The original post and the article cited set things up as an either-or / most-more situation, which neatly leads to a formation of two camps - those decrepit hidebound barely able to keep the tennis balls on the legs of their walkers as they creep toward irrelevance, and those who are eversomuch cooler because they're still upright and into electronica and will never ever age out themselves. Neither of these perceptions is accurate, both are unfortunate. The general theme/question of influences, though, leaving superlatives out of it, remains an interesting one to explore. Haydn and Beethoven, anyone? :)

Of course. Are insults necessary? Productive?

This is a fun thread so far. No need to feel insulted.
