I always feel he's a very underrated actor. While his biggest fan base is probably from the 4 movies he did with John Carpenter, he has always given great performances in his other work. Backdraft, Tombstone and Breakdown are all standouts for me. As for comedy, Used Cars is brilliant and if you ever listen to his DVD commentaries, hysterical, especially Used Cars.
    Any fans of Kurt?

I'm still waiting for Elvis (1979) to see the light of day on DVD. As some might know, not only is Kurt a big Elvis fan but he also had his movie debut with Elvis in It Happened at the World's Fair (1963).

    Here's Kurt's Internet Movie Database link:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000621/

He rules! Especially in Overboard, but for now I'll provide a pic of him as Macready in "The Thing."

Breakdown is a great, underrated thriller for the '90s. Hope it gets Blu-Ray treatment.

Another Fan here. I think my favorite Russell film would be "The Thing". That was a great remake of the original from John Carpenter and he chose the perfect cast for the movie. It's one of my all time favorite Sci-Fi films. He was also great in "Backdraft".
I can remember his earliest film days as well when he did a couple of Walt Disney films as a child.

    I love Breakdown!

Escape From L.A. is an intentionally formulaic reprise/remake of Escape From New York, and detractors criticize it for that. F*** them. It is very tongue-in-cheek, and is good on its own.

I haven't seen it in a while, but I liked Used Cars when I saw it [I always associate Fix-A-Flat with Russell's character in this movie  ]

    Snake! Snake! Snake! :agree:

    Love him.

    Personal faves:

    - The Thing

    - Tombstone

    - but for me, NOTHING comes close to his hilarious John Wayne wanna be / swaggering numbskull character in "Big Trouble In Little China."

Kurt is SNAKE. Just for that role, he should have gotten 14 oscars.

Snake is a great character. Too bad there was only one sequel aand no prequels.

Used Cars, which I watched a few days ago on cable, is still LOL funny.

Did anyone here watch him play minor league baseball? After being a child actor in Disney films (I also remember him playing a jungle boy in a black and white episode of Gilligan's Island), he was a drafted by a MLB team but his career was cut short after an injury. I recall on the Tonight Show, he said he always wanted to be a MLB player, and that one earns a World Series, and awards for acting are given out. His nephew Matt Franco recently played for the Mets, so it must be in the blood.

I like him a lot. There are a couple of 'not great' movies in his career that I won't mention but thats not to say he didnt give his best with what was given in them.

I thought he and Stallone worked well together.

Breakdown, The Thing and Tombstone are classics.:righton:

  21. My favorite Kurt Russell role was Captain Ron. I recently saw him in that Grindhouse flick and though he was great in it, the movie itself was wrecked by too much inane dialog.

Loved Breakdown and Mean Season. Used Cars is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen and so underrated.

Also, I bet people didn't know he recorded an album around 1970. It's bubblegum and it's really good. One of the better celebrity LPs I've ever heard.
